Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Regarding the Brits and climate change I stopped concerning myself about the climate issue once I realized the Sierra Club had taken $100 million from David Gelbaum in the late 90s on the condition they never talk about immigration in the harm it does to the environment ever again. If people really were concerned about carbon emissions they would stop all immigration from very low carbon footprint countries to the high carbon footprint countries of the West which drastically increases the amount of people in high carbon footprint country set would otherwise have a declining population and declining carbon emissions Also the fact that all of these billionaires purchase waterfront property Made me question sea levels rising along with insurance companies complete lack of factoring in sea level rise In their insurance policies I realized it was just another scam

Everyone has the right to a fair share of the fruits of industrialization, whether they stay in their home country or migrate elsewhere. That's a key problem of addressing climate change, how to allow more people to benefit from economic development while continuing to reduce carbon emissions. robb moffett: Made me question sea levels rising along with insurance companies complete lack of factoring in sea level rise In their insurance policies I realized it was just another scam That is incorrect. Insurance companies do include climate change in their planning, especially when insuring in flood-prone areas, including AllState, FM Global, and State Farm. For example, see Liberty Mutual's Risk Matrix. "a right to a fair share of the fruits of industrialization". The Z manifesto is remarkably similar to the pronounced utopia of the liberal, progressive, socialist, and communist doctrines. Always mandating but never approaching reality. And we watch as the promised new utopia of South Africa deindustrializes before our eyes as it is unable to even maintain its fruits of industrialization. What you really want is a new world order dedicated to salvaging the unsalvageable. It is tough for utopians to accept that all cultures are not equal.
It is tough for utopians to accept that all cultures are not equal.
If they were, there would be no need for anyone to leave their home to come here. Not Sure: It is tough for utopians to accept that all cultures are not equal. If they were, there would be no need for anyone to leave their home to come here.
Your conclusion doesn't follow. Civilized people can be forced to leave due to war, economic collapse, or oppression. Or are you saying Jews fleeing the Nazis were less than equal? jack walter: He didn't say anything like that
We're not a utopian by any means, but we are aware of the concept. The comment seemed to suggest people "come here" (presumably the United States) because they are from inferior cultures. Unless you think the land of Beethoven, Goethe and Einstein were not high culture. So, explain what you think was meant by "there would be no need for anyone to leave to come here." He didn't say anything like "Jews fleeing the Nazis were less than equal."
Regarding your second lie, I suppose it depends on how you define inferior cultures. Einstein declared his intention not return to Germany in 1933. I think 1933 Germany is a perfect example of an inferior culture. A few American Progressives went there to study it as a model society, but I dont' think anyone else emigrated to Germany in the 30s for a better life or more oppurtunities.

The culture of Germany is far more than just the Nazi period, just as American culture is far more than chattel slavery or the ethnic cleansing of Indian peoples.

NYT obligation to solve personal problems of everyone in the world... Those are not personal problems, those are cultural problems. The NYT understands almost as little as you that every tribe creates the culture they live in. If the culture sucks then blame your tribe and learn to live in YOUR culture or change it.

"Everyone has the right to a fair share of the fruits of industrialization..."
Not even close to the truth. Zachiel, being a communist, doesn't understand the nature of rights or production of goods. It's why they always end up executed or starving to death.
jack walter: Zachiel, being a communist
Not a communist. Private property is a bulwark of liberty, and markets the engine of economic prosperity. We have stated our position many times previously:
The balance of power in a modern democracy is not just between the legislative, executive, and judicial branches, but also between federal and state sovereignties, constitution, statute, precedent, traditions, property ownership, corporations, media, political parties, churches, families, clubs, neighborhoods and local concerns, individual liberties, etc. More generally, modern democracies are complex networks, meaning there are connections throughout the network, not just a ladder of rulers. Complex networks are more resilient under pressure than strict hierarchies. Of note, all modern developed countries are mixed systems with social safety nets and robust markets. re welcome to the 'EUSSR': Unpopular European Regimes Grasping for Power Crack Down on Dissent
Well? It seems to be working. Foreign-Born Member Of Congress Threatens Republicans With Prison When Democrats Regain Power
QUOTE: During a committee hearing Tuesday, Thanedar — struggling to speak English — threatened to prosecute Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott when President Donald Trump is out of office. “You better hope you get pardoned because you will be held accountable for the absolute disregard of the law your agencies have shown over the past year,” Thanedar threatened. . . . Democrats are explicitly threatening to imprison political opponents for enforcing duly enacted law — resurrecting their 2024 playbook. And Thanedar is hardly an outlier. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries previously warned on CNN that Democrats would target Trump and other Trump-related people. https://thefederalist.com/2026/02/11/foreign-born-member-of-congress-threatens-republicans-with-prison-when-democrats-regain-power/ Re: AI going to wipe out
It's nearly impossible to tell today how AI (so called) is going to affect the world. I don't think that Hot Air is capable of giving good ideas on it, though. Most of the time it seems like it's just advanced computer tech, and computers do disrupt everything in terms of doing it the old way. The old way doesn't really exist anymore. But every once in a while I read something that makes me think I won't make the next 15 years or so to retirement before the world is not recognizable. The software is becoming very advanced, but the robotics is still dragging behind. Many white collar jobs are already at risk. Lawyers, doctors, accountants. AI is currently reducing the number of staff that surrounds those positions. If the robotics catches up to the software, many others will be affected. Democrat candidates lie about their Republican counterparts to try to get elected. Republican candidates tell the truth about their Democrat counterparts to get elected.
I can always tell when 'Zachriel' trolls the comments: the count is always up.
Maybe a lot of discussion is good - but I don't see this commenter contributing positively. Feeding this beast doesn't help either. |
