Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Re: "Disgraced Dilbert creator"?
I'd say it all depends on who is doing the disgracing and why. People magazine is certainly not my arbiter of what is or isn't a disgrace and Adams did not give a racist rant but gave a reasoned dissertation on race relations with which all are free to agree or disagree. Writers for People magazine are little more than Hollywood critical race theorists. They are no more serious than the USA Today newspaper. Race and Gender communists have no place in this country.
it all depends on who it is that you confront--which group of females have got their panties in a twist!
I appreciate our law enforcement at all levels; city, sheriffs, state and federal. I really want then to be the hero's, the sheep dogs and not the wolves. Often they are bullies or even dishonest and dangerous but most are good people at heart with a tough job that requires split second decisions that can go wrong. But, I think it is a mistake to stand in front of a car with a suspect in the drivers seat. I think that every level of law enforcement should teach this in their training of their officers and spell it out in their policies. And if for what ever reason they find themselves in this vulnerable position at that moment when the perp decides to hit the gas that their prime directive is to save themselves AND if they can get out of the way and choose to shoot then shoot the engine or the tires or don't shoot. An exception for a fleeing murder, rapist or child molester, but even then use common sense.
If you go on YouTube and watch cop videos you will quickly discover that the police choose to place themselves in front of the vehicle knowing that if the perp accelerates that the officer technically has a get out of jail free card if they shoot the perp. Let me reiterate that. The police knowingly get in front of the car so that they can goad the perp into trying to get away and that allows them to take his life without any consequences to them. This is wrong. Not just the recent case in Minneapolis but in most cases. I would also say that the same training and policy should prevent them from jumping into the car so that they are dragged and again can get away with murder. I don't want any police run over or killed but I don't want any minor offenders shot and killed either. OneGuy: But, I think it is a mistake to stand in front of a car with a suspect in the drivers seat.
It’s called “creating your own jeopardy”, and it is discouraged by nearly all police departments. That’s why the vast majority of officers will approach the side of the car, not stand in its path. Most police officers rightly see their job as protecting the public, including suspects and themselves, to avoid rather than cause injuries. Some will even risk their lives to save others, including suspects. But others will engineer situations where they bring about danger to themselves and others. These people shouldn’t be police. OMG! I agree with Zac! Wait! I need to pinch myself. Damn! It's not a dream.
The officer did not "create his own jeopardy" nor "engineer the situation to bring about danger".
You're full of shit. You think anyone who disagrees with you is full of shit, so saying it out loud doesn't mean anything to anyone. Your attitude does as much harm to this police officer as the crazy protesters screaming on the sidewalk.
Two things can be true at the same time. Police officers should be trained to avoid putting themselves in harm's way unnecessarily, such as positioning themselves in front of running vehicles. And they also should be justified by the law to use force when they find themselves in harm's way, such as being in front of a moving vehicle. If ICE agents are the professionals I hope and expect them to be, they should already be studying this shooting to learn how to avoid the same results in similar situations. And apparently you think the same, jack.
Blaming the officer for getting hit with by vehicle driven by an apparently insane women does no one any good either.

These are paid professional protestors. They block streets and interstate highways using bodies and vehicles. They break the law using any means necessary and with the expectation that law enforcement will do little if anything to stop them. They are reaping the violence they stoked. Find the funders and remove them from the equation along with the organizers.

What you're saying is that the officers are thinking something along the lines of "I may be run over and maimed or killed if I stand in front of this vehicle, but that's all good because I'll get a chance to kill the driver with no consequences."
Funny that you call a person driving away with a police officer hanging onto their car as a "minor offender." I call it attempted murder. RJP: What you're saying is that the officers are thinking something along the lines of "I may be run over and maimed or killed if I stand in front of this vehicle, but that's all good because I'll get a chance to kill the driver with no consequences."
The vast majority of police would never even contemplate that, just as the vast majority of police approach a car from the side. Gee whiz. Even in a grocery parking lot, you should avoid being too close to the business end of a running car. But other cops will think they can stop someone from moving by using their body and threat of a gun as a barrier. Meanwhile, some cops will risk their lives to save others, even suspects. Yet, more than a few cops devalue the lives of people they consider unworthy. There is little likelihood that the agent will be charged, much less convicted. There is little accountability. However, it's also true that he created a dangerous situation. Whatever right he had to shoot her was limited to self-defense with minimal force. But shooting her was not the most limited response, as shooting her did nothing to reduce the threat. He could have preserved her life. Instead, he ended it. She was a paid agitator and in charge of her own life. She blew it. She never expected to be called on her poor decision making.
Every so called "conspiracy theory" since about 2000 has turned out to be true. Meanwhile actual "experts" testifying before SCOTUS and congress are unable to define what a woman is or if men can get pregnant.
When two national guard members are shot the left was mostly silent and their only response was that the guard shouldn't have been there. No protests against the Muslim terrorists, no outrage over the killing of an innocent woman. When woman were raped and killed by illegal aliens again the left was silent and many media outlets didn't even report it. But when a dark money paid and terrorist trained anti-ICE activist is shot while trying to run down an ICE agent we get Chinese funded terrorists in major cities all over the country demanding we allow all the terrorists and Chinese Army illegal immigrants get to stay in our country. I'm thinking we need to take the next step; declare it an invasion and state sponsored terrorism and arrest everyone in the NGO's and other activist groups that are training, funding and hiring these anti-American domestic terrorists to riot and cause mayhem in our country. Arrest, convict and jail for anyone who conspires against our government and our nations security. |
