We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
"What should we do? We're single parents." Volokh. You could grow up, for starters.
Do you want govt to "fix" the best health care in the world? Dem Project
25 years in jail? This is insane. Poor fellow hurt no-one. Coyote. The guy should be given a good spanking, and be sent home and back to work. It's time to bring back the olde village stocks: it would not cost the taxpayer $60,000 per year to lock 'em up - for what purpose? A day or two in the stocks is enough humiliation.
"Lawyers familiar with [wheelchair user David Allen] Guntherís activities estimate heís taken more than $400,000 in the last 36 months, mostly from mom-and-pop shops in Garden Grove, Anaheim, Fountain Valley, Orange, Tustin, Buena Park, Stanton, Seal Beach, Santa Ana, Dana Point, Huntington Beach and Los Angeles. If true, thatís quite a haul for a man who has spent most of his adult life unemployed, according to records obtained by the Weekly."
All those FLA undervotes were the result, in part anyways, of a poorly designed ballot - the irony being that the electronic machines which don't have a paper trail were installed because of the controversy over ANOTHER poorly designed ballot in 2000 (remember all the Buchanan votes in Palm Beach?)!
The local paper looked into it, and it turned out most of the undervotes were from straight ticket voters who, presumably moving quickly, simply missed the house race, which wasn't set apart from one of the other races as well as it should have been on the ballot. That's it - no fraud, no ES&S scheming, and not much that can be done about it now.
