Back from a merry Christmastime in olde England with family including our 15 month-old rambunctious grandlad and his grandma -with a couple of days in London too.
A child-friendly Christmas Day service in our village chapel, lots of chilly rural hikes, day and nighttime urban hikes in a crowded London to see all the sights. Evensong in St. Paul's, and a tour of Westminster Cathedral.
Night comes early up there - by 4 -4:30 it's dark.
Yes, London is full of immigrants. More than NYC where we are venturing today for the opera. Carpe diem.

A few more trip photos below the fold -
Daily hikes along the Avon, and across agricultural countryside

I like these old real diners - old dining cars at the end of tracks going nowhere anymore along bike and hiking trails. English food, wood stove.
One of many older dwellings in our village

Village of Broadway in Cotswolds. We had tea.

Quaint shoppes in Broadway. This is around 4:30 pm

Leicester Square

Used to be an abbey, now a cathedral or whatever Anglicans call it

Amongst all the others, in the crowds I missed photo of Captain Cook and TS Eliot but got a pic of this one.

Mrs. BD's favorite destination in London - the giant Borough Market. She got me some stinky French cheeses. Too crowded when we went.
