Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Looks like one of those Christmas cards from the early 20th century. I haven't looked for a long time but they used to be fairly common on eBay. It was a style of art people must have liked. These old cards are always interesting to look at. Perhaps there will be more to see? re Trump is delivering the goods — but needs to stop promising the moon
One of Trump's many faults is that he seems to think he can fix anything. He has indeed made promises that he simply can't deliver on. In this he is not unique. Other presidents have done the same . . . or worse. Remember, "If you want your doctor, you can keep your doctor." or "This will save you $2500/yr on your health insurance premiums."? Obviously there are countless more examples of the moon being promised to us by presidents of both parties. I think those type of promises are built into the nature of people that are elected to office. They can't help themselves. good Trump things BUT still waiting to see budget spending cuts, Dept Education go away, budget deficit declining, and mass deportations. I do think Trump is sincere in wanting good things for ALL Americans.
Why Johnny can't read.
I certainly won't deny that the schools are failing the students. Every child should be able to read and do basic math by the 3rd to 5th grade. BUT if Johnny graduates and can't read I blame the parents. You should be teaching kids at home. 3 and 4 years old is old enough to teach the alphabet and then how to read. But even if you didn't live up to your parenting responsibility before they began school certainly once you see that the school is failing to teach them you would jump in and make sure they knew how to read. Any teacher who promotes a student that cannot read to the next grade should be fired. Any school system that encourages this or allows it should be replaced with new staff and new directives. But any parent who allows their child to reach puberty and not be able to read and do simple mmath needs to stand in front of a judge. Concur. Our education system has been a horrible moneysuck for decades and many parents aren't helping.
The most likely truth about Epstein is that he was a Mossad agent working with the CIA and the FBI to use sex with children to entrap and blackmail politicians and important individuals in America for the purpose of directing American power, money and military to do the bidding of Israel. The role of the CIA was to use Epstein's clients to increase and consolidate their own power which far exceeded the scope of Israel's intent AND was most likely contrary to American interests. While the FBI was content to use the blackmail to further their domestic power and protect themselves from investigations.
Nothing has changed in the CIA and FBI. The deep state may not be as active or destructive while Trum is in office but they are still there, still growing and scheming. Both the CIA and FBI need to be dismantled. Replaced from scratch with honest and patriotic staff and provided with a strong oversight by congress. They are right how a danger to our republic and causing more harm than good. QUOTE: 'We Don't Dispute' It: Georgia 315k Vote Bombshell Blows a Big Hole in 2020's 'Most Secure Election' Lie That doesn't call into question the election result. What were left unsigned were ballot tallies. The ballots were always intact. The ballots were audited, machine re-counted, and hand re-counted, with signatures on mail-in ballots audited by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. It is not consistent with Georgia law to disenfranchise thousands of voters because of a technical error that didn't affect the final outcome. It 100% calls the results into question. The 'ballot tallies' are actually the results tapes that come from the tabulators. Why would so many precincts not have signed tapes?
I work in elections and I know first hand that the signing of those tapes and the corresponding zero tapes in the morning is one of the most important things the precinct officials do. It's not a training issue. If the tapes were not properly signed and accounted for, how could one trust that there were not ballots already inserted into the machine? Mail in ballots and the signatures are not the problem alleged. I have not given in to the fraud stories coming out of Georgia until now. Not having signed tabulator tapes is an egregious, horrible error if it was even one precinct. And they ADMIT to 36 precincts. If you think otherwise, you are only displaying your ignorance. I have 18 years experience directly running elections and if we had ever received an unsigned tabulator tape or unsigned zero tape, we would be in an emergency situation and it would result in a bipartisan hearing. A public hearing that was transparent. What happened in GA was criminal. QUOTE: Trump Defies Odds, Achieves Economic Triple Play With Rate Cuts, Tariffs And Cooling Inflation Not a home run, though, as unemployment is edging up. (Lower inflation may simply indicate a softening of demand.) First the pandemic, then the remaking of the global trade system with the chaotic imposition of tariffs, the economy has sustained a number of shocks. However, some stability might yet yield a soft landing. All of the "increasing unemployment" is a result of lost government jobs and people who had stopped looking for jobs returning to the job market.
Sane people think both of those are good things. New York’s Grand Central Terminal Helped Provide the Blueprint for American Cities. It Happened by Accident
