Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Something Doesn’t Add Up in New Jersey’s Election Results — and Pollsters Know It
QUOTE: But wait until you hear this: Right Angle News Network points to some eyebrow-raising numbers out of the race. Somehow, from 2021 to 2025, the state’s number of voters in the gubernatorial election jumped 500,000 — over twice the pace of population growth — and virtually all of those new votes went Democrat, even though Republicans have had the advantage in new voter registrations. It’s the kind of “coincidence” that’s starting to look a lot less like chance and a lot more like something worth investigating. . . . Did 500,000-plus Democrats really just materialize out of thin air after sitting out the previous three gubernatorial elections? Where were these voters hiding all this time, and why did they suddenly decide to show up in force for Sherrill? The timing alone raises questions, especially in a state where Democrats already had a structural advantage and a well-oiled machine. Adding half a million new voters in a four-year period, with nearly all of them breaking in one direction, doesn't happen organically. https://pjmedia.com/matt-margolis/2025/11/07/something-doesnt-add-up-in-new-jerseys-election-results-n4945717 I am not leaving NYC because we have a socialist mayor.
The Big Apple is my home. Im not leaving Flint because its my home. Im not leaving Baltimore because its my home. Im not leaving Detroit because its my home. Im not leaving Gary because its my home. Famous last words. Stay if you believe change is possible. Lets be real several states
are not going to change in our life time. Those with means that live there or visit keep feeding the machine, the same with the businesses that stay. NY has been losing businesses for 40 years because of high taxes to fund social programs, business left and the working class was taxed to make up for it. Enjoy Dennis Lukas: NY has been losing businesses for 40 years
Since 2000, real GDP growth for NYC has been about the same as the national growth in real GDP (~2%). NYC's real GDP per capita is nearly ⅔ more than the US average. I wonder what the stats would look like if all those large companies stayed and not moved south or to Mexico.
Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded. — Yogi Berra
Dennis Lukas: I wonder what the stats would look like if all those large companies stayed and not moved south or to Mexico. New York is among the greatest cities in the world, for business and for culture. Great cities exist because they draw talent together into a vibrant network of innovation. However, there is a natural churn. People and businesses move in to take advantage of the concentration of talent and resources in cities. Yet, intense competition raises costs, so some may leave for lower cost regions. Americans have every reason to be proud of their great cities, which are the source of much of their prosperity and creativity. (Past performance is not indicative of future results.)

Some people are forced to leave their homes in Haiti or Venezuela when under much greater threat. On the other hand, said of Zhivago: "He will never leave Russia." Amherst College faculty having zero sense of the history of "democracy" and its values.
https://substack.com/@vladtepesblog/note/c-156259641 Someone needs to tell that insufferable "expert" (Totally Reduce your Pet's Carbon Footprint) that cats are obligate carnivores so they HAVE to eat meat. Humans also tend to do better on a high protein diet; a veterinarian I know referred to the food pyramid touting grain-based foods as the "feedlot diet". And there is increasing evidence that health problems amongst native Indians stem in part from being switched to a high protein diet to a high carbohydrate diet. Their metabolisms just aren't designed for a lot of grains.
