Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I am not sure what the author's point would be. Another hard luck story with the implication that we censor porn?

There has been porn for thousands of years, so "what porn took from us" has been around for just as long. It is nothing new, just like gambling, booze and drugs. These other vices have their critics as well, but whining and moralizing about it is not going to make them go away. They are some of the reasons why we need Jesus. And if you don't believe in Jesus, I would argue that nature doesn't care about the individual, it cares about the species. While individuals may fall victim to vice, it has had little effect on the success of our species.

We don't live in Utopia and never will.

I followed their Facebook link and read the snippets there. You're absolutely right - it's a heart issue, just like most vices tend to be. And besides, with the rapd decline in male/female relationships in the West, online porn will have plenty of clientele; it's as inevitable as it is toxic.

Porn became much more available in the early 90s. Sexual assaults went down. That does not mean the porn availability made that happen (though it may have. Unproven), but it does mean that the opposite cannot be true. It didn't make things worse. So whatever harm we think it does, we might need to weigh sexual assault against it.

I think those men fighting on Omaha Beach would be very disappointed in the later generations ie us. We have much work to be done.

So probably would the Canadians who landed on Juno Beach on D-Day and were the first to achieve their objective and even move beyond.
Juno Beach was to the east of Omaha and was probably considerably easier to secure and move inland. But we still lost a faire few that day, and more when - further inland - some soldiers surrendered and were summarily executed by the Hitler Youth.

I think the title of this article is over dramatic by design to generate clicks.

That said, this particular conviction for burning a Koran, does not "sign Britain's death warrant." It' just a marker in the rising tide of authoritarianism in the UK. The British subjects seem to have no way to stop it.

The UK renewed its subscription to suicide when it elected Keir Starmer, who has indifferently continued the organized disassembly of the nation's norms and standards and dispersal of its property. The voters are bringing suicide on themselves for being too stupid to see what's in front of their very nose, and too lazy to do anything about it. Sorry, but it's the plain truth.

It's been going on for over 20 years now. Life is too easy under Socialist leadership schemes - that's the whole point of things like the Dole, where housing and food are provided just for asking for them. But don't fret - hard times are coming, and soon people will be hungry in addition to being ignorant. Too bad it'll be sharia law calling the shots then.
