We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Bill Maher’s shtick is pretty funny. He claims that Trump is selling electric vehicles on the White House lawn? And MAGA is buying them at record rates, yet all across the board, electric vehicle sales are down. EV’s are practically bankrupting Ford. I don’t think his claim about MAGA changing their tune is quite as dramatic as the Left’s change. It’s not the MAGA crowd going around fire bombing Tesla dealerships and keying some random strangers Tesla. It’s not MAGA people with bumper stickers on their Tesla’s, proclaiming to all the world what irrational idiots they are with bumper stickers telling us that they purchased this Tesla before Elon turned into a Nazi.
My memory of Michelle Obama and her health initiatives is quite a bit different. As a conservative, my objection was to the expansion of the school lunch program. Feeding every kid in the school district breakfast, lunch and dinner, so mom and dad, or in most cases, just mom, can go buy the latest iPhone, big screen tv and extra bottles of wine, was the objection. Not nutrition. I remember the pictures of the Michell Obama lunches. Gross.
There’s a good reason for wanting Trump to declare how much he loves oxygen. It’s Bill Maher that doesn’t actually stand for his principles. He claims to be a man of the left. More government, centralized power will bring the utopia that we all crave. Yet he never fails to act the hypocrite. He’ll say and do things that fatten his wallet. Just like the free market business person does. The people he claims to detest.
Did any buyers learn anything from the Spanish/European grid crash of recent past weeks?

Dilbert creator Scott Adams reveals he has same type of cancer as Biden and shares heartbreakingly short prognosis
Dilbert creator Scott Adams has revealed that he is suffering from the same aggressive form of prostate cancer as Joe Biden and that he'll soon be dead.
US debt will expand at an absurd rate... That was the whole point of continuing resolutions that were later combined with the Covid cult freebies. Hooked on government spending as the cure-all to bolster the economy since the Dow/Gold peak back in 1999.
Timothy Snyder was always antifascist, but things took a turn after "Bloodlands." He exposed both communist and fascist violence in WWII, but most of the fascism crimes were already widely known in the West. He was fluent in Eastern European languages and revealed much of what had been buried and hidden with his research. The communists in the academy hated him for that and he went into downplay mode. It is similar to Tom Friedman saying "Well we had to hit somebody" about 9-11 and being shunned by friends. Within a year he was back on the reservation.
Most of our politics is performative, to show which group we want to belong to. In the same way that "Dress For Success" advised to dress for the job we wanted, not the one we were in, people adopt their politics for similar reasons. Snyder is in international circles and his reputation is now less dependent on being in New Haven. Add in an angry wife, and Toronto starts to look pretty good.
