Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Statistically, anyway. There are quite a few cities up there.

Two cities over a million people and, "no major cities"?

How big does a city have to be to be "major"?

Just asking from a state with less than 2 million people.

I live upstate in a county of 50000. We have 44 lakes, ski centers. I know and like most of my neighbors. My kids and grandkids live 7 doors down and see them everyday. If NYC has something I want it is 3 hour drive. I find it interesting that people think there is nothing here. I hope to God they keep thinking that way.

Upstate New York is empty because, Winter. I spent the two worst winters of my life in Schenectady. Nothing in my life in NE Mass or NW Indiana prepared for that horror show.
