We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Be mindful when selecting a digital photo frame. We live in the age of subscription farming. If the frame has any kind of internet connection, they'll sell it with you setting up an email address, so everybody can mail in their pictures, right from their smartphone.
Works great ! Lots of pictures ! .....and then, Presto ! 'Dear Client', our business model has changed and what we sold as 'free with your purchase' will now come with even more exciting and excellent features - at only $5 per month, credit cards accepted !
Oh, also - all those hundreds of stored pictures that were sent and put on display for free? You can't download them to save them, so sorry. We'll keep them safe for you though, only $5 per month.
Keeping Aggie's caveats in mind, my 94 year-old mother loves getting regular updates to her frame from us and her grandkids. Says it was one of the best gifts she's ever gotten. Helps us stay connected even though we live far apart.
What's much worse is that a YUUUUGE number of the Chinese-made digital frames (and I defy you to find one that isn't from Chyna) contain some fairly nasty malware that loads itself onto your jump drive when you dump your photos onto the frame. The malware then loads itself onto your computer when you insert the jump drive the next time.
I've had friend suffer everything from complete hard-drive re-formatting (wiping all information except what's in the BIOS) to simply sending the entire contents of the e-mail address book to some remote server.
