We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I remember reading a piece 10 or 20 years ago in which the author explained a whole generation of factory working men in Detroit dedicated their lives to ensuring their children would never have to work in a factory.
All while they were the lone breadwinner in the family that had a stay-at-home mom, modest home, boat, and in some cases a nice lake home "up north."
Maggie's Farm is still loading really really slowly - don't know what the glitch might be, but it's still there in Firefox, latest edition.
Re-shoring industry in the USA will not look like a repeat of history. Modern industry is much more automated, and with A.I. advances, robotics will bring even more efficiency. The winner will be the one that is the best at innovating change into industry, which is why it makes sense to bring it back to the US. It's no longer about 'where is the cheapest labor pool?' Some of the smarter tech people, the ones not affected by TDS, are able to see this.
We will still have heavy industry, but the worker forces will look very different. The first heavy industry to reinvigorate? I'm guessing nuclear powergen.
If the USA is to re-industrialize, then the EPA and the green opposition is going to have to be cleared out of the way. I don't know how that gets done. Both groups want the USA de-industrialized, and have largely succeeded. They will fight efforts to move industry back here with every weapon in their arsenal. It won't be easy if they have a say.
BTW, MF still loading slowly on Brave as well. One wonders if those accessing MF on their phones are having similar problems?
