We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Mark Steyn reversal of fortune... Even when caught up in the DC political correctness racketeering circuit, there is, eventually, a way out of the hellhole. Unfortunately, it costs a pretty penny to escape the claws of the hellmouth. DC needs to go away, it has had no historical purpose, safety from the states, since the Civil War.

I continue to maintain that there are fewer than a dozen honest patriots in congress. How else to you explain the utter silence from them when revelations of waste fraud and abuse, such that DOGE reveals almost daily? Where is the legislation to cut the waste? I weekly get a screaming email from my congressman, deriding DODGE along with a slanted questionnaire such as: do you support cutting social security (yes or no)?

Heck yeah. I support cutting social security. I support cutting payments to the dead and illegals. I support cuts to the VA, such as eliminating a monthly $350k payment to make tweaks to the VA website. In general, I support gutting the entire federal government. Why do I need to send so much of my tax dollars to DC, so that it can be laundered and pennies returned to the state?

Meanwhile, in congress, there will be no voting this week, because of some bs about a congresswoman raising a stink about not being able to proxy vote. Unserious people.

Even as a veteran that uses the VA very little, I find it wasteful to operate a separate medical facility just for veterans. Close the VA system and give coverage to veterans to use local medical facilities at the same cost as medicate payment reimbursement.

Later on. He killed himself. A shotgun to the head, while rocking in a chair.
