Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Massive evidence of fraud and money laundering but no charges, no names, no arrests and no trials. I want to see the people who stole our tax money exposed. I want to know where the money went. We are talking about trillions of dollars over decades. Who got it?
Just my two cents: Trump can shut down agencies, or he can shut down agencies and bring charges. I think the number of temporary restraining orders has reached over 300 since Trump was sworn in. That is on the order of magnitude of 20 or 30 times the number of TRO’s during the whole Biden administration. So, cut spending quickly, or tie things up in courts even more than they already are. It is the devil’s bargain, but it is the cards that have been dealt.
OneGuy: Massive evidence of fraud and money laundering but no charges, no names, no arrests and no trials.
What crime committed by what person? Please be specific. How did you arrive at "trillions of dollars"? B. Hammer: Trump can shut down agencies, or he can shut down agencies and bring charges. If someone broke the law, they should be held to account through due process. However, the president, if he is to "take care that the laws be faithfully executed", can't shut down agencies established by Congress, nor defy the will of Congress with regards to the purpose and spending of Congressionally-established agencies. @OneGuy: “no charges, no names, no arrests and no trials.”
Unfortunately, you can apply this across the board. As far as I know, the steps taken by the Trump Administration to right the wrongs of the Biden regime have been exclusively remedial; that is, fix the damage and stop the bleeding. For example, pardons for the victims of malicious prosecutions; cutting off the flow of money; gutting the institutional bases of Leftist corruption; and closing the border. These are all excellent and necessary moves. But they are not sufficient. There is still no fear of consequences. The most severe personal punishments have been loss of employment and the revoking of security clearances. Governors, mayors, and other state and local officials can publicly proclaim that they support and defend illegal aliens. This means that these officials are bragging to us that they are committing a felony crime. Has a single one of them been arrested? No; all we get is threats, heated rhetoric, withholding of funds, “lawsuits,” etc. The President must seize the power of the presidency. We need to see handcuffs and perp walks, immediately. There is no reason for further delay. And for goodness sake, stop obeying the illegal orders handed down by the black-robed priests of the Progressive cult. AWOL Civilization: Governors, mayors, and other state and local officials can publicly proclaim that they support and defend illegal aliens. This means that these officials are bragging to us that they are committing a felony crime.
That in and of itself is not a crime. Only if someone impedes federal officials does it become a crime. I beg to differ. If I knowingly harbor a murderer in my house, that is a crime, regardless of whether or not a government official is impeded.
The entire concept of "sanctuary cities" is criminal. The people offered sanctuary are known lawbreakers. Why not sanctuary cities for bank robbers? AWOL Civilization: If I knowingly harbor a murderer in my house, that is a crime, regardless of whether or not a government official is impeded.
State officials can't hide undocumented migrants, but they are under no obligation to help the federal government on immigration. AWOL Civilization: The entire concept of "sanctuary cities" is criminal. The legal basis of sanctuary is the Tenth Amendment of the United States Constitution, under the anti-Commandeering doctrine. The Supreme Court held in Prigg v. Pennsylvania (1842) that the states could not be forced to return slaves to their owners.

re ‘Never Seen Anything Like This’: Crucial Voter Groups Fleeing Democrats, Says Stunned Fmr Clinton Pollster
Some Dems are figuring it out, though they apparently are still a minority. Even Buttigieg was pretty close to the mark a few days ago when he said this: QUOTE: And we cannot go on like that. We cannot. I also think that we believe in the values that we care about for a reason. And this is not about abandoning those values. It’s about making sure we’re in touch with the first principles that animate them. .What do we mean when we talk about diversity? Is it caring for people’s different experiences and making sure no one is mistreated because of them, which I will always fight for? Or is it making people sit through a training that looks like something out of Portlandia, which I have also experienced. And it is how it is how Trump Republicans are made. If that comes to your workplace with the best of intentions but doesn’t actually get at what we’re what what actually matters here, what’s actually at stake, I think and this might sound counterintuitive if we were more serious about the actual values and not caught up in vocabularies and trying to cater to everybody only in terms of their particular slice of combinations of identities versus the shared project https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2025/02/20/pete_buttigieg_the_way_democrats_talk_about_diversity_is_how_trump_republicans_are_made.html I doubt is opinion is popular with his party's base. 'We'll never have an energy transition'
I disagree with this, but I strongly agree that trying to leverage any societal transformation with jawboning and junk science should never work. I'm glad to see it falling down, and I hope lessons will be taken forward. The supporting engineering was never there, and still isn't there - but the policy makers were convinced that their virtue and idealism was a valid substitute, and that somehow the engineering would follow, as if it is subservient. I can easily see an energy transition: To nuclear energy, with moderately-sized, standardized plants and a more sensible regulatory structure to govern their construction and operation. The sooner we do it, the better. I think we have seen a transition. Wind and solar have their place and there is a usefulness for them. However, replacing petroleum generated large scale power isn’t one of the uses. Nuclear is the answer, for sure.
Sensible regulations? Now where is the graft in that? Modern America is about laws and regulations. For the lawyers, by the lawyers. I put more stock in the ice caps melting than anything sensible coming out of Washington, D.C. Nuclear is the answer, for sure.
Is there enough uranium available for a huge expansion, and long term use of nuclear power? My understanding is that the Russians control most of the supply. HA
That's right! Part of the Great Reset. Hillary had to pay for Chelsea's wedding. And maneuver Russian acquiescence with the Steele Dossier. Back when Vlad was alright. feeblemind: My understanding is that the Russians control most of the supply.
Of global uranium reserves, Australia has 28% and Canada has 10%. The United States has minimal reserves. Meanwhile, the United States is angering most of their allies and trading partners. With regard to Antarctica, if no one has seen the land below the ice which has existed for thousands of years, how do you explain the 1513 Piri Reis map showing such Antarctician land and using Mercator long before it was discovered.?
