Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

The media expects every R politician to disown every act they don't like, no matter how small. Democrats, destroying property? Not so much
"a cartel of vile, corrupt and far-left judges"
This is a great example of the problem. The far left are corrupt and want to use their power against us and against the constitution. The far right judges will in their far right zeal refuse to compromise the constitution. THAT is the difference between the far left and the far right. The far left are communist who seek power and must destroy the constitution to get more power. The far right revere the constitution, believe in our republic and would die to protect the constitution. Soros is behind the far left and Soros is an anti-democratic pro-communist effort to destroy the U.S., Canada and England. The primary method communists use to hide their agenda and destroying the opposition is to accuse their opposition of doing what they themselves are doing. The more they fear their opposition the harder they try to smear them in this way. We see that with their constant attacks on Trump. Trump is tearing down their illicit funding schemes, exposing their fraud and lies and speaks the plain truth to the American people. Trump is their kryptonite and they must and likely will destroy him. re Who Will Miss the Department of Education? No one.
Trump Signs Order to Eliminate the Education Department, Here Comes the Court QUOTE: The directive cleverly says “to the maximum extent appropriate and permitted by law.” That’s an admirable objective in these eyes. But where are the boundaries? The Journal notes Plaintiffs in two cases have won preliminary victories in court. Trump will likely succeed on some points. However, if Trump tries to shut down something authorized and funded by Congress, he will lose those cases in court, and deservedly so. I say “deservedly so”, despite the fact I approve eliminating the Department of Education, because Trump is not above the law. . . . Properly executed, I am 100 percent in favor of efforts to abolish the Department of Education. But good luck doing it by Executive Order. Many of Trump’s executive orders can be bundled into a package and passed in Congress on a simple majority reconciliation vote, not subject to filibuster, if only Trump would go that route. I don’t know if Trump would get everything he wants, but he would get many things he wants. https://mishtalk.com/economics/trump-signs-order-to-eliminate-the-education-department-here-comes-the-court/ re Who Will Miss the Department of Education? Re: Bundled bills for Congress.
Just where are the GOPe on these issues, Speaker Johnson? Sitting on your Uniparty hands, I guess. Does Mr. Trump have to do everything? Reminds me of Trump’s first term with Speaker Ryan sitting on his Uniparty hands. The Republicans in Congress actually doing something, is about as likely as the Democrat leadership actually condemning democrat street violence. It just isn’t going to happen. You ask the $64 question B Hammer. Is there enough support in Congress to cut government?
Mish seems to think so but I would wager there are too many squishes in the House to pass any of it. My guess is that they are content to let Trump attempt the cutting and take the resulting heat. Indeed, I can't think of a time when the repubs have ever tried to substantially cut the size of government. If the Supreme Court allows Trump to use Impoundment, as was legal before Congress interfered in this executive right in the 1970's, then he can squeeze every department as he chooses. In the case of the education department, he can reallocate funds to vouchers in the states that allow vouchers.
"The Democratic Party Is Ripe for a Hostile Takeover. These Two People Will Do It." Two communists jerks, one old and one young. They are drawing large crowds of like minded free loaders.
Heathrow airport had a fire and have lost all power. A pretty serious problem. But of course they have backup power right, right? Well they did until fairly recently they had a large diesel generator for backup. But some genius decided to replace it to comply with the Net Zero rules of the EU. They replaced with a bio generator??? Which is incapable of generating enough electricity to get them back running. Now think of the incredible stupidity of replacing a reliable fossil fuel generator for that reason! It is not ever going to be used EXCEPT in a dire emergency, so effectively it is already using "net zero" fossil fuel until that moment when it is needed to protect lives and safety. And yet some genius government employee decided to replace it with an unreliable unworkable alternative. And all the bosses up the line approved it. Unbelievable!
I would guarantee you that right now that everyone responsible for this decision is: 1. looking for some way to still justify it, 2. deleting emails and shredding memos. And 3. No one will be fired for this. What is great is that it really puts the focus on the 'expert' class of bureaucrats that are determined to make sure nothing works.
Stuart's commentary on the Delano article you linked to yesterday was very good. Supervised tapering and reducing of psychiatric medications is an excellent goal.
