RFK Jr believes that food is the "root cause of chronic disease.

Here is where almost every food activist makes their mistake:
Pick a chronic disease, let's say heat disease. You have too much cholesterol or overweight or never exercised, what ever. For that person with that chronic disease "diet" is an essential part of treatment - no disagreement. But for everyone who doesn't have that chronic disease their diet will not cause it!!! THAT is the missing link that everyone ignores.

It is similar to an allergy to a food, ie you were born with it or developed it somehow and now your diet is critical. For example an allergy to sea food, if you eat it you have to get to a hospital or you might die. Does this equate to "everyone should abstain from eating sea food"??? Of course not. In this example it is obvious but for someone with a high cholesterol it isn't obvious so the "food nuts" think that none of us should eat eggs or steak etc. A tendency to very high cholesterol is genetic! More than likely one or both of your parents had that genetic trait and also more than likely you passed it down to your children. but if you don't have it eating a low cholesterol diet is stupid. I say stupid because cholesterol is essential for your health AND the diet is doing you no good BUT might be doing you harm.

Generally there are two kinds of arguments opposing what I just said:
1. No! Your wrong! Everyone should only eat a ___ diet (fill in the blank with your favorite stupid diet, ie. vegan, low fat, carnivore diet, etc.).
2. I'm a doctor/expert/dietician/whatever! and how dare you challenge my authority. Eat the damned Kale and shut up.

RFK Jr is absolutely a believer in the first position but my fear is he will also adopt the second position and implement rules that will reduce food options for shoppers and even school diets. Time will tell but my gut feeling that RFK Jr is a food nut and he can't help himself and will try to mandate what we eat.
