Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"Obama Judges (Illegally) Blocks Trump's Freeze on Federal Spending".
Iy is settled law that unconstitutional laws and mandates are not legally enforceable and do not have to be obeyed. The judges have stepped out of their lane and into the separation of power which is something the constitution clearly states that they cannot do. The judges unconstitutional orders can be ignored AND the judge has just made himself eligible for impeachment. OneGuy: Iy is settled law that unconstitutional laws and mandates are not legally enforceable and do not have to be obeyed.
As a general rule, you should obey the law until a court rules on the constitutionality of the law at issue. If you disobey a law which is later upheld, then you can be found criminally or civilly liable. If you disobey a court order, regardless of the underlying legal dispute, you can be held in criminal or civil contempt. OneGuy: The judges have stepped out of their lane and into the separation of power which is something the constitution clearly states that they cannot do. If you are referring to the injunction over the spending freeze, the judge has seen evidence that the President and Musk may have exceed their authority under the law. But the injunction is just temporary until a hearing on the merits can be held. You, the judge, and the AG's are all pretending. This is nothing more than the panic of "just do something" in order to slow DOGE from exposing illegal spending.
Go check out Karl Denningers website, The Market-Ticker. These injunctions can be halted by requiring states and/or individuals to post cash or bonds in the amount of the money they are contesting. Good luck finding a bondsman.
That is a standard no presidential administration in the last 100 years has observed. Also a standard progressives have shown no interest in holding any president to. Until now. When Trump threatened their grift, graft and corruption. Not only is the spending in question enriching individual "activists," it is how the left has paid for the astroturf to create the illusion their policies are popular. I'll add, the entirety of USAID is a CIA front that has done virtually nothing good and much bad.
FTR, every last deranged judicial ruling against Trump's actions to this point has provided obvious evidence that the judge is both incapable of maintaining a modicum of judicial objectivity and views their authority of unlimited. You ought to be too embarrassed to act as an apologist for them. James: That is a standard no presidential administration in the last 100 years has observed.
The courts have repeatedly held that the President can’t just refuse to spend funds as directed by Congress. For instance, Congress had passed an appropriation over President Nixon’s veto, then Nixon impounded the funds, but the courts found he had no such authority, and he was required to “Take Care that the law be faithfully executed.” See Train v. City of New York. (Think about it: What is the point of a Congressional override if the President can just ignore the law anyway?) On the other hand, Congress can and does delegate authority to the President to withhold funds in certain circumstances. That requires examining the statute and the case history. Even then, there’s a limit to how much power Congress can delegate to the President. In Clinton v. City of New York, the Supreme Court found that Congress can’t give the President a line item veto, a power you claim the President has regardless of enabling legislation. You are referring to the progressive FDR courts. Previous to that it was not uncommon for presidents to refuse Congressional spending bills. The progressive courts decisions are coming under ever increasing conflict with the conservative court decisions. Expect more FDR progressive court decisions to be thrown out.

DOGE has clearly discovered $50 billion in outright fraud a year at the Social Security Administration. There could be more, very likely there is more and a deeper dig will probably expose it, But think about that $50 billion that has been shoveled out the door every year to god knows where with no effort to stop it or track it.
So in addition to stopping it and putting in better accounting controls so it doesn't happen again why not track it??? Almost all SS payments are direct deposit so whose account did it go in? We are talking about $1 billion a week isn't it worth a little effort to at least expose who got the money? Please Trump, appoint an investigator to track this money down, arrest and charge people where fraud is involved and even charge some government employees if they were involved. The DC Gulags have room for those convicted of defrauding the government and tax payers. Please, do it! Do it!! OneGuy: DOGE has clearly discovered $50 billion in outright fraud a year at the Social Security Administration.
Do you have actual evidence of this, or just Musk's say-so? It would seem that DOGE has hit close to home and that has you worried. Has USAID stopped funding the NGO that pays you to spread anti-Trump propaganda?
Zachriel: Do you have actual evidence of this, or just Musk's say-so?
OneGuy: It would seem that DOGE has hit close to home and that has you worried. So, no, you don’t have actual evidence. QUOTE: Trump’s Chess Game Is Improving ... Left-wing apologists claim that the Foreign Affairs Reform and Restructuring Act of 1998 (also here, not identical!) turned it into a congressionally mandated organization. A text search of both versions of the act revealed a pot full of “Agency for International Development” instances. And a curious thing failed to show up. All of those pointed to various funding and management prescriptions for USAID. Not one of them said, “We establish USAID as an agency of the State Department” or something to that effect. SEC. 413. STATUS OF AID. (a) IN GENERAL.—Unless abolished pursuant to the reorganization plan submitted under section 601, and except as provided in section 412, there is within the executive branch of Government the United States Agency for International Development as an entity described in section 104 of title 5, United States Code. re How to Dress Like a Gentleman—And Why
I guess that is why the CIA does such a great job for the USA, because guys like Brennan are dressed to the nines in fancy suits. Lookin' good beats competency any day of the week, eh? If you work for the government I imagine it does. I wonder how the author of the piece feels about tattoos? I think tattoos are much more of an insight on a man's character than where his clothes come from. A Swarm of Sinecures
QUOTE: It strikes me that jobs are increasingly viewed as sinecures…something that is given to someone to reward them with money and status. The idea that jobs actually involve work that actually needs to be done seems to play less and less of a part. One might have thought that jobs like physician and air traffic controller would be reasonably exempt from this kind of thinking…but then one would have been wrong. https://chicagoboyz.net/archives/73140.html#more-73140 DOI ended subscriptions to Politico Pro and E&E News — an environment- and energy-focused publication owned by Politico — last week after numerous reports surfaced indicating that millions of taxpayer dollars have been spent on subscriptions to liberal media companies, a source familiar with the matter told the DCNF. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin said Tuesday that his agency also will not be renewing internal subscriptions to Politico and E&E News.
