We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Trump's plan for Gaza is actually a good idea. He should as part of the plan make it a destination resort a bunch of beach front hotels and cabanas, maybe some wind surfing and parachute rides. Put a Navy base right on the border with Egypt. Give us a big foothold in the Mediterranean.

Having the US occupy Gaza ia an awful idea. WTH is Trump thinking?

As long as the Palestinians' number 1 goal in life is to kill Jews the only potential for the Palestinian people is more death and ruin.

Has Trump learned nothing from our "Nation Building" experiences?

Occupying Gaza would be yet another bottomless pit for dollars and the wasting of young Americans lives.

We have no business attaching ourselves to that tar baby.

Agree - bad idea, and I think he knows it. But if you've been paying attention to how this guy operates - the statement isn't necessarily what he intends to do.
I think he is just flooding the zone. He has lots of important work being done now, none of it will make the left happy. Toss this out there and let them chew on that on the Sunday talk shows. Naturally they will get their knickers in a bunch and.....two months from now it's all over. The left won nothing of substance, and he goes on his merry way.
There could also be an international relations angle that I'm not seeing - where he is playing them also.

You've been saying this kind of stuff for nine years. Trump is currently at his peak in terms of popularity and power. Maybe it ought to occur to you that what you've been doing isn't working.

The Democrats are actively calling for violence in the streets. This is shameful. They have immunity when they are inside the house or senate but they made the mistake of doing this on the capitol steps. They should be charged with inciting violence.

While people, especially those in positions of authority, should avoid charged language, none of those would qualify as breach of the peace under U.S. law, especially as they could be seen as calling for political or legal action. Political revolution doesn’t require physical violence.

For instance, Trump saying, “We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore," in and of itself, wouldn’t constitute a breach of the peace.
