Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

My concern with RFK Jr. is his strong belief in "the wellness industry". He is just wrong when he claims that a good diet will cure all our health problems. I fear that all he will accomplish is that he will throw out the baby with the bath water in trying to eliminate "additives" AND he will attempt to ban certain foods in his tinfoil hat beliefs about "healthy" food. In the end it won't save lives or prevent diseases it will merely cost billions and limit food choices.
I don't think RFK will ban food items any more than he will ban vaccines, but it is surely his duty in HHS to point out the dangers related to either. Is it good policy for taxpayers to support soda and sweet drinks, or candy bars and chips in government provided food programs? Is it wise to allow pharma to withhold data on vaccines.
And as one democratic senator, lecturing Kennedy, said that the "science was settled" on vaccines, I have little faith in politicians that declare science is settled in any field. Yet politicians make the laws. It's Not Amateur Hour Anymore in DC
QUOTE: But this is not merely an attack on expertise. This maneuver has a further effect: to disable opposition. Career employees with this degree of expertise and experience are exactly the type who would embody institutional norms and, thus, exactly the sort who could be expected, in their own way, to form a bulwark of institutional resistance to Trumpian excess. They say this like it's a bad thing. Apparently, The Atlantic is stuck in the 20th century, still infatuated with "experts." J6 defendants have filed a class action lawsuit against the DOJ. IMHO everything depends on the venue and the judge, we saw that with judge Merchan in the NY City trial. But given a fair judge in an unbiased court what can happen is that win or lose everyone involved in this lawfare driven intentional failure of the justice system can be called to testify under oath. This could include the director of the FBI and FBI informants and agents. It could include those capitol police who fired deadly rubber bullets into the crowd and those who tossed fragment grenades into the crowd. It could include the policeman who shot and killed Ashley Babbit. It could include those capitol police who ruthlessly beat a woman in the tunnel while she lay unconscious. It could even include high level government officials who directed questionable actions by the Capitol police. It could implicate the J6 committee in withholding and destroying exculpable evidence that led to the conviction of innocent Americans. It could shed a lot of light on the dark secrets around J6.
re: The Most Important Time in History...
This essay is worth about as much as a late night infomercial. There are much better people to follow to get ideas of where it might lead us. When it might take us is something else. The experts sound optimistic to the point of crazy. But if the progress is exponential, then the singularity may very well be near. The early 2030s seem to be the over/under for most people. Anyone who is telling you what that's going to be like is making things up because we don't know. It could end up like Star Trek, or Pandora's Start, or The Terminator, or The Tower of Babel. re What Happened When DEI Came to the Military?
One wonders how deep and pervasive the DEI rot has advanced into the military? Hopefully there are saner heads in the military that have been able to survive by keeping their heads down and can now set things right. QUOTE: Trump caused mid-air collision... I make this point because not everyone is accounted for, and as bodies were being fished out of the river, the liberal media couldn’t wait until next of kin were informed that this crash was all Donald Trump’s fault. Meanwhile, Trump blamed Biden. Biden's FAA was playing the DEI game in a profession where a mistake gets people killed. Putting DEI candidates in schooling slots where failure is likely leaves the air traffic controllers short of qualified candidates. DEI kills if practiced in the professions with no margins for error. Then, again, I don't think Biden was running anything... who gets held accountable?
What is factually inaccurate about Trump's claim? Was the tower chronically understaffed? Were air traffic controllers working long hours? Did the Biden admin. create incentives to hire ATCers with a history of emotional or psychological problems? Did the Biden admin reject qualified white applicants in order to hire less qualified or even unqualified nonwhite applicants? It appears the answers to the last four questions is "Yes." IOW, the Biden admin is to blame. Along with idiotic proponents of AA and DIE like yourself.

Woman Pleads Guilty in the UK's First-Ever "Cyber-Farting" Case QUOTE: "A woman pleads guilty in the UK's first-ever "Cyber-Farting" case, spanked with penalties after sending videos of herself farting to her boyfriend's ex. 25-year-old Rhiannon Evans caused "distress or anxiety" to her boyfriend's ex. "She proceeds to pass gas by placing the camera on her bottom and passing the gas," said prosecutor Diane Williams. "Miss Evans passing wind, her face smiling at the camera." The "victim," Deborah Prytherch, said the booty belches made her feel unsafe in her own home. "It was purely malicious. She was smirking throughout, she found it hilarious but the victim didn’t." Evans must attend 15 rehabilitation sessions, 60 days of alcohol abstinence monitoring, and a two-year restraining order following the cheek squeaking stunt. She is no longer allowed to "harass" the "victim." QUOTE: "What are you in for?" "Killing people with a hammer and putting their bodies through my wood chipper. You?" "Sending videos of farting." As the murderer slides down the bench away from her, a tiny squeak is heard in the jail cell. . . .I guess we shouldn't mock a prestigious legal system that's been in place for hundreds of years.
