Maggie's Farm

I am getting quite old and all my friends and acquaintances are as well. So it is no surprise that I know half a dozen or so people who die every year with most deaths being from cancer. There is this string of events that is similar in every case: They get symptoms and consult their doctor, They get tests and a cancer of one kind or another is discovered. They are depressed, everything in their life changes. They then get hope from on oncologist or whomever and a commitment to help them fight this disease with new and promising treatments. And they take these treatments often suffering terrible pain and other issues from the treatments. And a few months of torture pass and then the news that the cancer has spread, perhaps to the brain, or where ever. New desperate treatments everything very expensive of course and medications also very expensive and with debilitating side effect. Finally the person, now a shell of their former self, broken, broke, family torn between hope and the desire that they just die in their sleep to end the suffering and the pass so doped up that their inner human disappeared weeks to months ago. For what!!! Did they live longer thanks to modern medicine? Did they suffer less or get to enjoy those last few months? No! They died in great pain suffering from the very thing that was promised to help them and it is likely they didn't live a second longer as a result of the radiation or poisonous pills and injections. WHY?

I do not accuse the doctors, nurses and staff of intentionally inflicting this pain and suffering but the health community as a whole is guilty. It is "THE" cash cow of American health care. It is why there are huge complexes in major cities with huge buildings and mass confusion navigating to various offices and labs. Billions of dollars in each of these cities with massive health care facilities dedicated to the cash cow, I mean cancer centers. No one is saved except a few people who have tumors that can be treated, always could have been treated and in general don't kill you anyway. Everyone else dies. If you have small cell carcinoma from smoking all your life you are going to die. BUT before you do they will strip you and your spouse of all your savings and they will gouge Uncle Sam for as much as they can before you pass. AND to do this the MUST put you through a living hell to show that they are actually doing something for the money.

And there it is, what your doctor won't tell you.
