We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

RE: World-Renowned Vaccine Scientist: RFK Is Right

I read his book about COVID - the Kindle version. It was heavily footnoted, and, reading an electronic version, the footnotes contained links to the source material. And I read a lot of the source material -- mostly just the abstracts and conclusions. Which convinced me he is not just some nut job. I still haven't read anything he has written about vaccines, and I know that a LOT of vaccines are incredibly helpful and have saved a LOT of lives.

It's a good question, one that I had asked myself.

Perhaps the author is correct in that it was because the election wasn't as close as was expected?

I propose several reasons there were no riots.
1. the dems expected to win by votes or cheating so dem-rioters were not activitated and funded.
2 Harris spent all and then some, of her campaign money so nothing was available to pay dem-rioters.
3 top dems don't believe their rhetoric. That is for the cannon fodder rioters.

Had two turkeys in my Aurora, CO neighborhood this past spring. They might have come in from the huge prairie open space just to the east of us. They are big birds. The previous spring I saw a momma turkey leading her babies in Cherry Creek State park.

Turkeys roam across my property at will out here in the Ottawa Valley. I think they sense I'm not a hunter.

They were actually hunted out of existence in Ontario years ago, but the province reintroduced them (I think the birds came from West Virginia but I'm not sure).

Anyway, they are clearly thriving! They look well nourished and fit, even in the dead of winter.

(Huh. A successful government programme. Go figure!)

It's interesting that in the both incredibly accurate and prescient BBC series "Yes, Minister" it was precisely the overregulation of breakfast sausages (emulsified stuffed offal tubes) that nearly led to the UK leaving the then European Common Market in the 1980s.
Especially since it's precisely the Sir Humphrey analogs in Washington that Trump is pledging to root out and eliminate.
