We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I was enjoying a beer on a NYC rooftop yesterday afternoon, watching the airplanes and choppers overhead. I thought that being an ATC at a major airport would be one of the toughest jobs around.
That reminds me of that amazing scene in Eastwood's "Sully" when they have the back and forth between the tower and it's literally word for word what happened during the event since they had it recorded already, and Eastwood isn't going to mess that up.
The calm ability under pressure to attempt to get Sully to another airport to land, and the immediate response from the tower to dictate to other airports in the area what was happening was incredible.
