We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

It's political season in the US, but isn't it always? Politics is soap opera. Barring the unforeseen, I'd bet that Trump will win the presidential election. I've talked with a number of Kamala fans ("She brings joy") but 6 months ago they would not have been fans at all. Interesting. I had imagined the Kamala voters would just be routine Ds and TDS voters.

Cuba: Another communist success story. Also, under what sort of convoluted asylum system do we allow those that were the actual oppressors in communist Cuba to relocate in America? Did they sign documents saying that they reject their old totalitarian ways? Probably not. Like all other newcomers, they are given an EBT card, a subsidized place to live, free medical care and a drivers license, which automatically registers them to vote. Welcome to Our Democracy. I suspect that if there was a national referendum on this level of emigration, the referendum would lose in a landslide.

So the commissioners not only have control over an Air Force Base, they can also prohibit activity because they disagree with someone's opinions and right to free speech? Wow.

If that is the case why not shut down ALL businesses whose owners disagree with them?

Looks to me like Musk would have grounds to sue the commission into bankruptcy.

The most graceful solution for the Air Force/Space Force is to close Vandenburg and transfer all their activities to Texas where they do not have to deal with marxists. California has already lost all of their aviation employment so losing satellite/space business if par for the course. It would also give them space for their 'homeless' problem. Win/win/win.

Yeah, but Vandenburg's a general launch base for the AF. They manage a lot of the higher inclination (more towards the polar orbit) launches, while the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station takes care of the lower inclination (more equatorial) orbits.

It can't really be replaced - no place else in the US (with the exception of Alaska, and that's got its own issues) allows a southerly launch that won't go over South America...

Thing to do would be for the AF and SpaceX to go "Yeah, but we determine what we need, not you. So - f'k off to the horizon, and when you get there keep going."

If Musk were shilling for Harris, they'd be more than happy to have him keep going. But instead we've got folks who behave as if they're still in HS and by god they're gonna show the guy who's actually doing things how powerful their clique is and shut him down.

There is a report that in North Carolina recently at an Air Force Base they loaded a C17 full of supplies for the hardest hit in Western North Carolina JUST so they could do a photo op for Kamala!!!

Wait it gets worse. After the photo op they unloaded the C17!

No! That's not from The Onion.

Sounds like that "senior director of standards and practices" needs to be reassigned to Tehran to cover the Israeli payback tour.

I look forward to his live on-air reports as the missiles and bombs fall.
