Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

The root of anxiety is distrust: we have “small faith” in God, little faith in His promises, or even His ability to carry out those promises! Do we have example after example in Scripture and in church history of those before us pressing on in faith, trusting God, and finding Him faithful? Of course! In fact, think about this: our Lord invested a pretty hefty section of the Sermon on the Mount in warning us about the foolishness of the sin of worry (Matthew 6:25-34). He concludes that section, “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” And Paul echoed his Lord’s command, “Be anxious for nothing” (Phil. 4:6). But oh how the pressure of the moment can make us forgetful and anxious! In my own life I have seen God’s faithfulness over and over and over again. Amazing, isn’t it, that we can experience God’s faithfulness and in such a short time fall into doubt and distrust? Why do our memories focus on the negative, and do not dwell on the positive? [Suggestion: because we do not cultivate, or, at least I do not cultivate nearly enough, the Christian virtue of thanksgiving. Spending time each day giving true, heart-felt thanks to God for all He has done for us is, I know, the greatest antidote for anxiety]. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things (Philippians 4:8).
QUOTE: Matthew 6: “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." QUOTE: Oprah's Livestreamed 'Interview' of Kamala Was Another Train Wreck “We really would love to know what your plan is to help lower the cost of living.” . . . Did you get a plan out of that? Because the writer cut it out. After the preamble, Harris proposed to take on price-gougers who take advantage during emergencies, provide $25,000 down payment assistance for first-time home buyers, and give startup businesses a $50,000 tax deduction. Now, you may disagree with her plan, you may reject her plan, but it is a plan with specifics. The writer simply pretends otherwise. QUOTE: KAMALA HARRIS: We love our country. I love our country. I know we all do. That’s why everybody’s here right now. We love our country. We take pride in the privilege of being American. And this is a moment where we can and must come together as Americans, understanding we have so much more in common than what separates us. Let’s come together with the character that we are so proud of about who we are, which is we are an optimistic people. We are an optimistic people. We ARE an optimistic people. Americans, by character, are people who have dreams and ambitions and aspirations. We believe in what is possible. We believe in what can be. And we believe in fighting for that. That’s how we came into being, because the people before us understood that one of the greatest expressions for the love of our country, one of the greatest expressions of patriotism is to fight for the ideals of who we are, which includes freedom to make decisions about your own body, freedom to be safe from gun violence, freedom to have access to the ballot box, freedom to be who you are and just be, to love who you love openly and with pride, freedom to just be. And that’s who we are. We believe in all that. And so this is a moment where we stand knowing what we are fighting for. We’re not fighting against. It’s what we’re fighting for. QUOTE: but it is a plan with specifics. LOL! That neither qualifies as a plan nor specifics, but ChatGPT must have thought so. "provide $25,000 down payment assistance for first-time home buyers, and give startup businesses a $50,000 tax deduction." Proposing to give away money is not a plan. It's an attempt to buy the votes of economically illiterate people.
"KAMALA HARRIS: We love our country." I've known guys who repeatedly beat their wife/girlfriend who insisted they loved their wife/girlfriend. They didn't. More on point, I've known spouses that consistently criticized and belittled their spouses both in person and around others. Those people didn't love the spouse, they hated them. Most of the comments progressive politicians including Harris make about the USA (true of you as well) are negative and almost none are positive. That is obvious evidence that you all hate the country, not love it. That is transparently true, I've made that point to you before, and if you had the slightest bit of intellectual or moral integrity you would just admit the accuracy of my statement. James4HJ: Proposing to give away money is not a plan. It's an attempt to buy the votes of economically illiterate people.
The claim is that Harris didn't propose a plan, and her comments were deceptively truncated as evidence. Of course it's a plan, even if you disagree with it. In particular, the $50,000 tax deduction for startups will encourage startups. (The current deduction is $5,000.) James4HJ: Most of the comments progressive politicians including Harris make about the USA (true of you as well) America has a long and storied history of progress towards greater equality and for social progress. But the struggle for justice presupposes America's own failings to be overcome. America also had a crucial role in the fight against fascism and then rallied a vast alliance to contain Soviet communism until its inevitable collapse. Furthermore, there is no nation today that has more to offer the world than the United States. Liberty and equality are not compatible unless you consume enough utopiates. You will have nothing and be happy... from the authoritarian BBB/WEF/NWO.
Just watched a clip of Jimmy Dore bebopping all over Harris over the clip you're referring to. First, Harris is clearly under the influence of something, as she usually is when she speaks in public. There isn't any way around that. Might be Xanax (Dore's theory), or it might be wine, which she reportedly imbibes in frequently, or some other drug. But it is clearly bad enough to reduce her ability to function. The quote you posted is a typical Harris word salad that is only marginally comprehensible and sounds like something someone under the influence of drugs would say. I'll add that Oprah, her audience, and the couple that spoke to Harris via video during the event were all obviously underwhelmed by Harris, and only politely clapped when prompted to by Oprah.
We can quible about whether it is a plan or not, but calling it a goal or aspiration would be a more accurate description. A plan has a good more details, and if you're campaigning for office, an argument for a plan's effectiveness would seem to be in order. Harris' website policy section remains nothing more than an import of the Biden website issues section. Your characterzation is a best incredibly generous. If all you can do is repeat the nonsense you do when forced to in terms of "praising the country", you don't really love it. You're just aware that it is politically costly to your side for people to realize you hate it. James4HJ: The quote you posted is a typical Harris word salad that is only marginally comprehensible
It's more than comprehensible. Not sure why you would say otherwise. It not only makes sense in part, but it makes sense as a whole too. James4HJ: We can quible about whether it is a plan or not, but calling it a goal or aspiration would be a more accurate description. Increasing the tax deduction for business startups to $50,000 is specific and accurate, as opposed to a Trumpian wave of the hand, "It will be the best ever tax deduction!" One wouldn't expect much more detail in an interview. James4HJ: an argument for a plan's effectiveness would seem to be in order. The tax deduction is expected to double the number of business applications over her first term compared to the last four years. She also intends to increase the share of federal contract dollars going to small business to increase competition. James4HJ: If all you can do is repeat the nonsense It's certainly not nonsense (words that make no sense), but our reasoned position. We stand by our analysis. Oh please... your Quibble-DickZ response is about as comprehensible as Kumala's word salad.
