Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

I do not understand why the politicians scramble to provide food and housing for the illegals. IMHO we should give them nothing. AND we should prosecute anyone who does give them any aid at all. As for medical I would agree with providing only essential medical care to be promptly billed to their government, i.e. the government from their homeland, and to be reinforced by confiscating assets if that government refuses to pay for their citizens medical bills.
I think it is time we change our travel requirements to a visa system where everyone from every country has to have a pre-approved visa to enter before they can even book travel to this country. And the visa requirement should be backed up by checks to insure the visa visitor/tourist didn't overstay and if they did that they pay fines and/or go to jail. Leftists like to analogize the current immigrants with those in the early 20th Century but the later came with whatever they had (usually almost nothing). They asked for nothing but work and to become Americans. It would have been unthinkable for the government to put them up in fancy hotels and shove money in their pockets. But then it would have been unthinkable at that time to have a welfare state so there you are.

Nothing miraculous about pure Democrat Machine politics. When the progressive legacy mainstream media works for you, propaganda is the order of the day. We're being flooded with it, now, and the tide will only keep rising until November. Has Maggie's really fallen under the spell of the modern Democrat machine? They hope so. According to them, it's a good strategy. But according to them, Open Borders is a great idea, too. They have the power of repetitive speech by lots of people on lots of channels, in their favor. Will it be enough for people to stop thinking for themselves, though? A person has to think for themself when it comes to buying food, or gas, or clothes for your kids. Or paying the electric and water bill. Or when they're thinking about what they want, from life. The MSM simply 'airbrushes' away anything that could be problematic to the recent progressive administrations.
QUOTE: The Front Page: Finally, River Page asks how a satirical post on X, including a lurid joke about J.D. Vance and a couch, morphed into something like a half-truth winked at by the Democrats. Commentator (7m45s) decries how even disputing such allegations only serves to amplify them. Will There Always Be an England?
QUOTE: There will always be an England, but only if there are always Englishmen. There will only be Englishmen if Englishmen are willing to struggle for their identity as a people—that is, if being English means as much to them as it meant to their ancestors. Does it? For the first time since the 10th-century emergence of the English as a nation out of the chaos of Anglo-Saxon tribes, that is the question. https://europeanconservative.com/articles/commentary/will-there-always-be-an-england/ Woke, Islam-Loving UK Govt Mandates Booze-Free Socials for Govt Workers. Really.
QUOTE: “There is definitely a bit of a culture around inclusivity, and this approach has become systemic within the department,” a source revealed. Officials are encouraging work socials that “revolve around activities” such as bowling and picnicking an alternative to the traditional round of drinks at the pub. . . . The Home Office is also encouraging staff to celebrate “diversity” amid ongoing anti-mass migration protests and counter-protests in Britain, . . . Previously, staff at the Foreign Office—equivalent to the U.S. State Department—have celebrated “World Hijab Day” by encouraging staff to try on Islamic veils, suggesting, “Many find liberation, respect and security through wearing it.” https://thenationalpulse.com/2024/08/14/woke-islam-loving-uk-govt-mandates-booze-free-socials-for-govt-workers-really/ "We must bend over backwards to accommodate our Islamic overlords..."

Here's The Shocking Reality Of Completely Blocking Google From Your Life
QUOTE: Here are some of the unexpected consequences that unfolded: When trying to get across town for a meeting, Hill discovered that her Uber and Lyft apps were essentially useless. That's because they rely on Google Maps. Hill was unable to stream her favorite songs on Spotify. Yep. Spotify hosts all its music on the Google Cloud. Attempting to simply browse the web created flashbacks of the internet in the 90's. "On Airbnb, photos won’t load," Hill says. "New York Times articles won’t appear until the site has tried (and failed) to load Google Analytics, Google Pay, Google News, Google ads, and a Doubleclick tracker." Many of the sites she visited were also dependent on Google Fonts. . . When trying to share video journals to her colleagues at Gizmodo, Dropbox refused to let her log in because the service uses an invisible CAPTCHA -- hosted by Google -- to verify that real humans are trying to access it. Hill discovered that after only a few hours into her experiment, her various devices had tried to ping Google servers more than 15,000 times. https://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonevangelho/2019/04/09/heres-the-shocking-reality-of-completely-blocking-google-from-your-life/#19aa99641fec Story is 5 years old. I wonder what deleting Google is like, now.
Yes. I knew it was an old story Aggie, but I never knew they had their tentacles into so much. Like you I wonder how much that reach has expanded.
Kamala's plan to turn us unto Venezuela
In a nutshell she is proposing to put price caps on food, which will empty the grocery shelves faster than you can say Centrally Planned Economy. High prices are the cure for high prices. One price caps are imposed and vendors can no longer make money on their products, those products will disappear from the marketplace. https://www.zerohedge.com/economics/vp-harris-first-economic-plan-proposes-federal-price-controls-combat-inflation But consider that all of this is intentional. I think rather than some GRAND conspiracy theory it is a lose knit cabal of conspirator's each with their own agenda. Our politicians aren't "communists" at heart it is just that Marxist/communist ideas and programs appeal to so many of those who are ignorant and vote. It isn't as though the WEF or some group of dark billionaires and oligarchs actually run and control all our politicians but they do influence who runs and who gets elected and they favor those politicians who would promise and implement Marxist/communist programs and policies. It isn't that we start wars intending to kill/purge our best and brightest but our politicians start wars for their economic and power hungry benefit and are "nudged" to do so by billionaires and oligarchs all over the world and in order to win with high tech forces we must enlist/draft the best and brightest and they will die on the killing fields. Not everyone of our politicians is corrupt or left/communist leaning but our politicians who are honest and right/democratic leaning are often assassinated, jailed or discouraged from running and when you look under the covers of all this dirty work you see worldwide billionaires and oligarchs hiding there.
Now look at Great Britian where if you speak the truth on facebook you get sentenced to 20 months in prison and ironically told that they are being kind to you because they were going to sentence you for 30 months. Or if you object to the planned and managed intentional invasion you get 42 months with your arrest, trial, and imprisonment accomplished in under 24 hours. Look at Canada and Australia where you can see the same trend as GB jailed for wrong think or disagreeing with the government. It's coming here too... but! but! that damned constitution and that damned 1st and 2nd amendment. No worries, if the Democrats can steal this election Kamala will appoint 2 maybe 3 far left Supremes and the constitution will forever after mean whatever they think it means. The Paul Bloom interview was indeed excellent. Tyler is a masterful interviewer, gets brilliant people to talk about unexpected things.
The Vox article on loneliness was a bit disappointing, though it had good links and further links. It told us the stereotypes weren't quite true, except they sort of are, and didn't give much about what is true instead. Still, it did seem solid instead of agenda-driven. |
