Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Hundreds of racist plant names will change after historic vote by botanists
So the word "caffra" was replaced with "affra." And just like that! Millions were raised up from poverty, ignorance, and oppression. I anticipate a spate of botanical-neonomenclature-inspired success stores to hit the presses any moment now. Harris' people seem to be running the customers out of the store before they figure out what they are buying. If she gets into a situation where she has to actively campaign against another Democrat prior to the convention, or if there's a huge fight on the convention floor, she's in big trouble.
I think her best play is to do the Biden 2020 basement campaign, stay out from in front of live cameras and keep events as scripted as possible. re Our ageing rockers
When I was a kid, and these rockers were young, I wondered what their future would hold. I would watch an aging Bing Crosby on a TV special and wonder if there would be any rock groups performing in their 70s, or if the public would still be interested in them for that matter. I speculated that if any rockers even made it to old age, their brains would be fried and they wouldn't even know who they were, let alone be able to perform. My dad was still a fan of the Big Bands, and hated rock music. I wondered if I would still like rock music as i aged or if my tastes would change as I aged? Turns out that we bond with the music we hear when we are young and continue to enjoy it down through the decades. I marvel at the touring by these aging acts. One would think the top tier groups and the solo acts like Dylan would have more money than they could ever spend, so why endure the travel and hassle? But they do. feeblemind: Turns out that we bond with the music we hear when we are young and continue to enjoy it down through the decades.
Quite so. Our musical tastes peak as teens, says study. Ah, but the age old question remains: Which is the greatest rock band: The Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin? Pink Floyd.
Even though Roger Waters is trying to destroy that. re It’s Shocking How Many Democrats Think the Trump Assassination Attempt Was Staged
We need to page Assistant Village Idiot on the topic. He likely has an insight. I suspect they think this as some sort of emotional defense for any advantage Trump has gained from surviving the assassination attempt. In their minds it's a way to diminish the perceived gain. It is to the point where if you told me that "one-third of Biden supporters think that (blank) wasn't real" I would believe you with a helpless shrug. I admit the same might be true for one-third of Trump supporters. This is the island we are all living on now. The paranoia precedes the facts. (Mental health note: this is more weakly true for depression and anxiety.)
But we have to keep pushing through to first looking at What Do We Know For Certain. You know something we know for certain? It keeps happening that important records are lost, and the weight of these is strongly in the direction of protecting the administrative state. Now it's the Secret Service records for important minutes during the assassination attempt. Between now and November the left/Democrats will be non-stop defaming Trump, lying, misinformation, whatever it takes. Because they cannot stand on their principles they must create a divide. Simultaneously the left/Democrats will blame the divided country on Republicans.
I enjoyed this entry blog_title ! I visit your blog quite often and you're always coming out with fantastic content. I shared this on my FB, Instagram and my follower loved it ! Continue the great work :) !
“I want to close the border, and I want to drill, drill, drill.”
And the left wants to do the opposite; overwhelm us with free loading criminal illegal immigrants and force us to huddle in the cold to survive. So difficult to decide which is better for the citizens. I know!!! Let's accuse Trump of being a dictator and everything will be fine. OneGuy: And the left wants to do the opposite
It doesn’t matter whether you agree with his policies or not, or whether he will use his powers to give everyone a pony. What matters is that by saying he will act dictatorially means he is an affront to the Constitution and to the rule of law. Of course there's this. "Colorado Supreme Court declares Donald Trump is ineligible for the White House." State officials in Maine and California also raised the possibility of baring Trump from the ballot and suits have been filed in over ten states seeking such an outcome.
Then there's banning Kennedy from the democrat primary and not holing numerous primaries. Or the litigation that has become SOP by democrats to keep third party candidates off the general election ballots over multiple elections. Now we have the fiasco of Biden being dumped and replaced with Harris, who would have never stood a chance of winning a democrat presidential primary. Of course, there's your fondness of the administrative state in which government employees make law, adjudicate alleged violations of those "laws" then sentence the "violators" You a habitual liar, full of shirt and only concerned about the abuse of authority or the preservation of democracy when it serves your objectives. Otherwise, your fine with the abuse of authority. Your concern about authoritarianism is touching. Maybe you can address these headlines:
Washington Post, Nov. 2016: "The problem with our government is democracy" Hum. Maybe a one off. Oops, no. The New Yorker, Oct. 2016: "The Case Against Democracy." Surely there aren't others. Oh, wait: LA Times: "The British Election is a Reminder of the Perils of too much Democracy. And for good measure, Vox: "Two eminent political scientists: The problem with democracy is voters." There's more, the time, the esteemed Gray Lady: "The Problem With Participatory Democracy Is the Participants" Why, it's like all you progressives that keep bleating on about saving democracy are liars whose only concern is getting their way. Z: What matters is that by saying he will act dictatorially means he is an affront to the Constitution and to the rule of law.
James4HJ: Of course there's this. . . But her emails! "What matters is that by saying he will act dictatorially means he is an affront to the Constitution and to the rule of law." No. What matters is whether he acts like a dictator and whether he ignores or violates the constitution. If you had a point here, you'd be talking about what he had done. He was president for four years.
You seem to want to be able to vacillate between him using hyperbole or literally meaning that. Pick one. If it's hyperbole, then your complaint is an absurd lie. If it is literal, then prove it is. Anything short of such clarity and consistency is a bald face lie. That said, there is very little that one can say that is an affront to the constitution. But if you're looking for such affronts, you would do well to consider Obama and other progressives complaining that the constitution and constitutional jurisprudence is too restrictive of government power. Since that was transparently the point of the constitution. I'll concede a tiny point. TRUMP and the country would be better off if he were more circumspect and precise with his language. Guss what The COUNTRY and Obama would be better off if he had not been/wasn't condescending, self-righteous, and passive-aggressive with his language. The COUNTRY and Hillary would be better off if she weren't condescending, self-righteous, and aggressive with her language. (The reason for the disparity is that the media attacks and exaggerates Trump's offenses while the defend and hide the left's offenses). When presented with a Gish Gallop, it's often instructive to address the first element or two:
James4HJ: Washington Post, Nov. 2016: "The problem with our government is democracy" The opposite of democracy is not dictatorship, nor does the opinion of one scholar represent scholarly consensus, much less the views of a major party presidential candidate who hopes to wield the immense power of the presidency. James4HJ: "Colorado Supreme Court declares Donald Trump is ineligible for the White House." One court's decision, based on a supportable reading of the Constitution, subject to review by a higher court, is not dictatorship. It isn't gish gallop. They're examples of progressive being very flexible about how important democracy is based on whether they like the outcome or not. Published by well know progressive news outlets, including the two foremost in the world. They're one argument for the only premise I'm really arguing. The progressives who go on about dictatorship and democracy are all lying, including specifically, you. You don't really believe what you're saying, or you would condemn the people who wrote those opinions.
Of course dictatorship is opposite of democracy. The rule of one versus the rule of the majority. There is literally nothing else that can be more antithetical to either one. "One court's decision, based on a supportable reading of the Constitution." It was no such thing. The majority made it obvious that their "arguments" were pretextual rather than reasonable. As did the three disinters. They ignored that Section 3 doesn't mention the president. They ignored the fact that Trump had not been convicted of treason, or even charged with treason, nor had any of the many illegitimate prosecutions against Trump mention anything about insurrection or treason. It was four progressives undermining the democratic process. Which even Sotomayor and Brown voted to overturn. If you were concerned about authoritarianship or democracy you wouldn't make such an argument and would be condemning the Colorado court. James4HJ: Of course dictatorship is opposite of democracy. The rule of one versus the rule of the majority.
To argue against democracy does not mean to argue for dictatorship. There are many forms of non-dictatorial governments: plutocracy, aristocracy, theocracy, and noocracy. Even democracy is not a single type of government, but a range including pure democracy, liberal democracy, and ethnocracy. In this case, the author, Jason Brennan, advocates "epistocracy" or rule by knowledge. But his view is not widely held. James4HJ: Published by well know progressive news outlets, including the two foremost in the world. Your argument is "someone said". Even if it is someone published in a major newspaper, that doesn't mean it represents the view of the newspaper, much less the view of a major progressive leader, even much less the view of all or most progressives. James4HJ: The majority made it obvious that their "arguments" were pretextual rather than reasonable. {should be condemning the Colorado court The State Court held the state could make the determination, similar to their power to disqualify individuals on other U.S. Constitutional provisions, such as age. The Supreme Court said it was a federal responsibility. The Fourteenth Amendment is not explicit, but different standards in different states would be unworkable. But, even if the Colorado Supreme Court was condemnable, it's not even close to dictatorship. That's just nonsensical. James4HJ: No. Of course it matters what the person who would hold power says about how they will use that power while trying to acquire that power. Yo, bot, I’m already going to vote for Trump, you don’t have to convince me!
Jill Biden had four times the personnel for “post-standing” as Trump for PA events
QUOTE: Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) has raised serious concerns about the Secret Service’s allocation of security resources following a revelation that First Lady Jill Biden received four times the number of Secret Service personnel than former President Donald Trump for events in Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024. Grassley’s inquiry stems from whitleblowers, showing that Jill Biden had 12 agents for “post standing” at her Pittsburgh event, while Trump had only 3 for his rally in Butler. This discrepancy is particularly striking given the increased security threats against Trump. The Secret Service had previously claimed to ramp up security for Trump due to an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate him. Despite this, the agency assigned significantly fewer agents for "post standing" at his rally compared to those assigned to Jill Biden. https://www.mxmnews.com/article/9d6d3886-4301-4794-a9c5-69bc9e5cd922?emails-jill-biden-had-four-times-the-personnel-for-post-standing-as-trump-for-pa-events If you want to see a beautiful downtown, visit N. Main St. in Greenville, SC. It features several hotels, many restaurants, and a beautiful Falls Park and Liberty Bridge.
[Falls Park The last time Brandon was seen alive was July 17 deplaning in DE.
On July 21, a staff-run WH Twitter account announces his withdrawal. 30 minutes after that, the same account announces support for Kamala. Still no live announcement from Joey. Anyone else find this scenario a bit unusual? Maybe Joe Biden should watch who gives him a bath, Many a Roman emperor were done in that way. Is this the 21st century version?
Tarnsman, on X, don’t know who he is, suggested that as the third inline of succession, Speaker Johnson should insist on a meeting with the President (not dr. Jill).
Strange that there does not seem to be a written document, signed by the President, officially abandoning the race. Maybe it is not for us mere citizens to have such proof? From Glenn Reynolds: A friend comments: “I increasingly think these anti-democratic orchestrations are done so openly as a demoralization tactic. What more do you need to see to understand this is ours, now?” B. Hammer: Strange that there does not seem to be a written document, signed by the President, officially abandoning the race.
Written document, signed by the President, officially abandoning the race. He is to address the Nation later this week. You’re welcome. Anon: You probably believe Dan Rather’s reporting
Not sure your point. The request was for a “a written document, signed by the President, officially abandoning the race,” which we provided. The President will be speaking to the public later this week. My bad, I should have realized someone of your meager mental capabilities might have a hard time with the concept. I’ll try to spell it out for you in simpler terms. This is not a written document, it is a collection of pixels on the screen, something that can easily be created in ten minutes by any middle school student (i.e., someone better educated than you) with access to a computer. Did that help?

Meanwhile, President Biden will address the Nation tomorrow evening at 8 PM ET. But that is also going to be just a bunch of pixels on the screen.

What evidence would you accept that Biden has formally withdrawn from the nomination contest?

This article has given me new ideas and inspiration for my own projects.
Anon: Better question: Why do you accept this at face value?
A letter posted on Biden's X account signed by Biden is stronger evidence than "Is not," even if you repeat "Is not" several times. It's reasonable to accept such a letter unless other evidence calls it into question. As already noted (more than once), Biden is expected to address the Nation tomorrow. Of course, that could just be AI (a collection of pixels on the screen), and the lizard people really do control everything. Again, what evidence would you accept that Biden has formally withdrawn from the nomination contest?

** Biden endorses Klamala **
What could be better than an endorsement f rom someone with Dementia. Oh oh! Something is going on with Joe Biden. The White House is in a turmoil but total radio silence. Rumors are flying about Joe's "health" right now. May have been hospitalized... or something.
Biden has not been seen in 5 days. This in itself is unusual. But at the same time as he declares he won't run for reelection it is very strange indeed. Is he ill? Is he suffering the side effects of all the medication he took to perform at the NATO meeting? What is going on?
President Joe Biden's Oval Office speech after dropping reelection bid: "I draw strength and I find joy in working for the American people, but this sacred task of perfecting our union is not about me. It’s about you, your families, your futures. It’s about we the people, and we can never forget that. And I never have."
Must be AI. But, if you look at Joe you see bruising on his left side of his face that they tried to coverup with makeup. His speech is even more slurred than usual. Looks like Joe took a bad fall. That's why he disappeared, he was hospitalized. Shouldn't the American people know when their president is incapacitated? Why are they hiding this? When will they tell us. Joe was medevacked to a hospital that is why they closed the air space around him. The pieces are falling into place. Joe is incapable of fulfilling his job and they are hiding this from the world. So who is in charge? Kamala? Obama? Susan Rice? Shouldn't they be required to tell us?
OneGuy: The pieces are falling into place.
Biden looks like someone who is old, is recovering from a mild case of COVID, has a residual stutter, is slowing down but is in control of his mental facilities, and has a mild case of gastroesophageal reflux. The bruising is obviously just an artifact from the AI. |
