Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Psalm 23


23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.


23:2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters;


23:3 he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his name's sake.


23:4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.


23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.


23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD my whole life long.

One of the most interesting books I ever read was "A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23," viewing the words of that Psalm from the perspective of someone who knows sheep.

I always like the personal shift in this Psalm from me being a dumb sheep to be lead to becoming an honored family member, for conversation and fellowship.
