Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Re the "increase in drowning deaths": They lost me when they got to "guns are the leading cause of death in children" and then sailed on to minorities and women hardest hit. I have learned not to completely trust organizations that call themselves things like "Sciencebasedmedicine".
From Stuart's Saturday Miscellany; tariffs are inflationary and the problem is our people are stupid to manufacture our own necessities. Well that's not a direct quote but effectively what he said.
But he is wrong and he is begging the question. Lets just agree that tariffs are a blunt tool and has consequences. But to understand why tariffs will work and all the legislation and pleading in the world wont work you need to understand that we are in this predicament intentionally and our congress and administration are complicit. Lets take one well known example; You remember when Disney replaced all their IT workers with Hib workers from India? Well that was a decision made to make more profit for Disney and all or most of your congressmen were paid off to make it happen. We don't have H1b workers because Americans won't do the job! No! We have H1b workers because they are cheap and managed and create bigger profits for billionaires who buy congress and administrators exactly for that purpose. We don't "offshore" American jobs because Americans didn't graduate from college we do it because it makes someone rich and they control lawmakers. We have sabotaged American industries and workers so that a few billionaires could become multi-billionaires and your congress is incredibly cheap to buy. We are literally dependent on foreign nations, not all of them friends, for our day to day existence. And someone is making a fortune because of that. Will tariffs be inflationary? Probably. Do they have to be? Probably not. To understand that you need to know that your Nike shoes that cost $300 cost Nike about $5 to make in Asia. If the same shoe cost $100 to make in the U.S. can Nike still make a profit selling them at $300? Well, duh! But don't miss the point. Offshoring our jobs and our essential and critical industries is suicide. Billionaires are buying congress so they can become richer and the fact that it destroys the country is of no interest to any of them. The elite are looting the country and destroying the middle class but look at how many mansions, yachts and corporate jets they have. That's all that matters to them. THAT is why you need a blunt instrument to hit them over the head with because they own congress and any laws written will favor them. Is there anyone else who thinks that the name "Crowdstrike" was a really unfortunate choice.
This is not the first time that Crowdstrike has caused huge misery for the country, and even the world.
Eight years ago, Crowdstrike claimed that Russia hacked the DNC. The consequences of that claim were catastrophic, leading to the fraudulent Mueller witch hunt and to the criminalization of diplomacy with Russia. Years later, Crowdstrike's Chief Security Officer admitted that Crowdstrike had no evidence to support its claim. QUOTE: 1 in 3 Dems Believe Trump Assassination Was Staged And 11% of Republican agree. People believe all sorts of things, often based on limited information and biases. QUOTE: Is this really any crazier than the media claiming Putin rigged the 2016 election? There is strong evidence that Putin approved interference in the 2016 presidential election to help Trump and hinder Clinton, and that the Russians were aided in this effort by contacts within the Trump campaign. QUOTE: There’s a lot of nonsense about BlueAnon, but this isn’t a movement. It’s just what happens when you get your reality from social media. It’s also what happens when a society no longer has any concept of objective truth and people just pick whatever truth fits their preconceptions. There is some element of truth to that, though, it bears pointing out, a minority of people before social media have also held unsupported fringe beliefs. The difference between Ear Truthers and birtherism is that it wasn't just a minority of somebodies among the public at large—some of whom apparently think reptiles have taken over the world government—but that the former president, Donald Trump, was an avowed birther. There is strong evidence that ...
Quibble-DickZ just gotta quibble... Thanks for doing the work that this American doesn't want to do: readings Z blatherings. I just scroll down to read the responses. Shouldn't he/she worry that AI will take their troll place or maybe it is AI now.
Typical Z narrative... keep repeating old talking points hoping someone will believe them. Do remember that 51 bs experts in the intelligence community called the Hunter laptop fake when they knew almost a year before that it was real. All of government gets their IC community talking points from the same group of people. Garbage in equals garbage out.
It's coup o'clock for the Defenders of Democracy in the Democratic Party. The knives are out for President Biden—from his oldest friends and allies—for the crime of exposing what they themselves have been hiding from the American people for years.
Agreed. Nevertheless, speaking as a staunch and lifelong independent, I very much hope Joe will hang in there and not give in.
I haven't yet bumped into a Democrat who thinks the assassination attempt was staged. But I would expect that the willingness to believe it is in inverse proportion to the amount of time you've spent shooting guns.
Anyone who has tried to shoot a target that far away knows that no sane person would try to shoot at a moving person you care about but want to just nick his ear. The shooter was no William Tell. And if you believe that Trump would be stupid enough to let an inexperienced teenager shoot at him, hoping he would only get a superficial wound and lots of sympathy, well...you likely live in a world much different than mine. |
