Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Re the Powerline website

Are others having problems with their thoughtful site?


I keep having it blocked by my filter. Those guys have been a regular visit from me. Might be on my end.

On desktop (Mac), it appears but looks very weird, very text-y, and keeps doing the robot check with every internal link. (Browser is Brave)

Seems ok on ipad and iphone.

There was discussion several months ago about banning him. Not a bad idea. He shifts the goalposts, etc. I deal with the Z-Team by ignoring it. Today the Z-Team responded to one of my postings. I made no response.

Mine also - avast anti virus blocks it hard. I read it on phone.

Get rid of Avast anti virus it gets very invasive. Malwarebytes is
so much better. If you use any Avast products they block content with out your permission. VPN's have to be turned off to use many sites.

I'm using Firefox and I have Avast - and it's giving me the treatment on Powerline, that somehow the certificate is phoney and therefore the site is a malicious one. Haven't been able to get around it, and not really willing to devote the energy - I'll get around to it, maybe.

I have the same problem getting to the site, it started about a week or so ago. I use AVG antivirus.

I was blocked from your site yesterday, I think that it was. Had never happened before and I suspected deliberate political mischief. Who knows?

Powerline is spot on for addressing most every significant problem facing America in 1986, or even 1994. Unfortunately, it is 2024. They are living relics, like watching reruns of the Ed Sullivan show.

Does anyone take Powerline seriously anymore?

I take them seriously, and so do many people who do not want them to exist, which is why we get filtered out periodically due to the many DDOS attacks sent their way from addresses close to our own addresses.

If PL gets 80,000 malicious hits from one set of IP addresses, and you happen to share part of that address, you're likely going to get filtered. No fault of yours, but it's the best way to stop the attacks.
