We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

What is Parkinson's Disease?


What is Parkinson's? It's a not-uncommon neurodegenerative disease in older people. There is also a syndrome termed Parkinsonism.


Many articles about it seem to minimize the effects of the dementia and psychosis that can occur in advanced Parkinson's.

Parkinsons is a requirement to join the Dementiacrat party. Thats all that matters.

Parkinson's is brutal and is not always the same in different people. There are also diseases like Lewey Body that kind of combine Parkinson's and Alzheimer's or dementia. That is brutal too. Family members have suffered from both. They have different opinions of true causes. You don't want either.

Parkinsons is quite debilitating, physically and mentally. My brother (2 years younger than me) has had it for about 8 years. He requires 24-hour assisted living care. Very sad.

My brother-in-law had Parkinson's 14 years. The last three years he was basically a quadriplegic, and could only talk in a faint whisper, usually having to spell the words out a letter at a time to be understood.

When he died from an infection he was having difficulty swallowing food, so he wasn't far from the end in any event.

It was brutal on the family and I regarded his passing as a blessing.

But we miss him to this day.

Idiopathic is one version of Parkinsons.
Always strikes me funny, Idiopathic translates to: *Dunno*.
As In: "Relating to or denoting any disease or condition which arises spontaneously or for which the cause is unknown."

BTW, it's been suggested --by some unknown Internet Neurologist-- that Brandon has all the symptoms of Idiopathic Parkinsons.
I guess that diagnosis is as believable, and just as good, as all the Internet Psychiatrist B.S. we saw for Trump 2016-2020.

A couple of months ago, had the honour of assisting at a church service where two parishioners were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary by having their rings re-blessed and renewing their vows. He's had Parkinson's for many years, and she now has mobility issues, but their responses were firm and his fingers barely trembled when putting the ring back on his wife's finger.
