Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Don't get me wrong, I'm no Thunberg fan nor a climate alarmist.
That aside, I see Samuel Short (Gateway Pundit) has done with Thunberg's words the kind of thing that prog/lib/lefty/dems often do and that I find unacceptable. He has, perhaps deliberately, implied that Thunberg predicted the end of the world by 2023 but this is not what she said. A more reasonable way to interpret her words is that the climate would be beyond a tipping point from which there can be no recovery by 2023. I'm only seeking integrity from all sides of issues. The average temperature today is 2-3 degrees C cooler than it was in the 6-12 century. The global warmest cabal only want to measure world temperatures from the period of the mini ice age. This statistical slight of hand is the entirety of their grift of global warming, well that and their lies and deceptions.
If we are beyond the tipping point then why bother? We might as well enjoy what little time there is left by driving our combustion cars everywhere.
(Hint: the only tipping point is that some of the public is catching on what an enormous scam the climate model science is.) Michael R. Kesti: A more reasonable way to interpret her words is that the climate would be beyond a tipping point from which there can be no recovery by 2023.
Thunberg deleted the tweet at issue, presumably because it overstated the facts. OneGuy: The average temperature today is 2-3 degrees C cooler than it was in the 6-12 century. That is incorrect. “the rate and magnitude of modern warming are unusual relative to the changes of the past 24 thousand years.” See Osman et al., Globally resolved surface temperatures since the Last Glacial Maximum, Nature 2021. Freddo: If we are beyond the tipping point then why bother? Tipping points are multiple. For instance, a tipping point may be reached that changes a rainforest into savanna. Tipping points can be mutually reinforcing. That a tipping point has been crossed may not be known immediately. The science is still uncertain in many respects, but relevant tipping points concerning ice masses in Greenland and Antarctica are areas of concern. Even then, it could take decades or even centuries before the full effect is manifest. “the rate and magnitude of modern warming are unusual relative to the changes of the past 24 thousand years.”
And the rate of cooling in the 15th -18th century was unusual too! Ironically the temperature and the CO2 levels could not be better for mankind and plant life in general. Perhaps a little more warming and a little more CO2 and it would be perfect. The planet would be greener and it would be easier to grow food everywhere. But I admit those facts don't help the grifters and one world'ers. OneGuy: And the rate of cooling in the 15th -18th century was unusual too!
The cooling of the Little Ice Age was not globally synchronous, so the impact on global mean temperature was probably less than 1ׄ°C. The cooling from the last ice age was globally synchronous and we are still recovering from that ice age. Expect to have open northern sea routes as it continues to warm. Warming and CO2 promote life, cold and low CO2 kill. Embrace the higher CO2 future and condemn the CO2 grifters and politicians.
Do you need to see the CO2 graphs once again showing no correlation between CO2 and temperature? They are easily available. All that the CO2 grifters have is about 40 poorly constructed climate models that are promoted and paid for by government for the benefit of government control and power. "... see Samuel Short (Gateway Pundit) has done with Thunberg's words the kind of thing that prog/lib/lefty/dems often do and that I find unacceptable. I don't see how it is possible to have read the story and sincerely believe that. I'll spoon feed you some of the points. "While Thunberg’s post did not say humanity would end in five years ." "The article that Thunberg linked misquoted the scientist who made the relevant remarks." The "scientist" was talking about the earth and humans not being able to recover from the loss of the permanent Artic Sea ice, which he predicted would happen by 2023, as short made explicit. In short, of the four parties involved, the "scientist" was either badly wrong or lying. The magazine was either wrong or lying. Greta was either wrong or lying. Short was accurate, nuanced, and intellectually honest. Which brings me to a more important point. The left does not value truth. They value what they think will advance their political cause. Greta lies to fire up the advant guard of the left and confuse low info voters. Then she deletes her lies/mistakes when they have been proven false to attempt to salvage her credibility so she can continue to lie. The "scientist" Anderson likely does the same thing. I'd like more of Short's integrity on all sides too. Greta The Doom Goblin has moved on to the pro-Palestinian cause now.
So climate change isn't just a progressive cause now, it's an antisemitic one too. First off, I do NOT like Gavin Newsom. I think he is a disaster. There are a lot of things I agree with at the link. Reading the link, though, I remember twenty five years ago, when he was on the Board of Supervisors (or the Board of Soups, as I used to call them.) HE would regularly appear on KFOG and always seemed so personable, likable. And actually, he seemed more realistic about policy, and more reasonable about politics.
Too bad that has changed. Based on what he was like twenty five years ago, He should've been a decent governor, though a Democrat. But then, Arnold should've been a better governor, too. Somebody's not a fan of Gavin Newsom
The author Isabel Allende is a fan of Gavin Newsom.Isabel Allende: Family Album QUOTE: With Mayor Gavin Newsom of San Francisco, who I hope will someday be president of the United States. One more example of literary talent coexisting with idiotic political positions. (I much prefer her non-fiction.)(6th row on the far left, in commencement garb) Is she any relation to the communist Chilean president who was removed by a Chilean military officer noted for providing one way helicopter rides for communist cadre?
Yes. Isabel's father and Salvador Allende were first cousins, so Isabel Allende the Author and Salvador Allende the President were first cousins, first removed. Isabel's father mysteriously disappeared during her childhood. From Isabel's memoir Paula,we find out that Salvador acted as a surrogate father for Isabel in her father's absence. Which is to his credit.
Though Salvador Allende did not take that helicopter ride, as he shot himself, in spite of the Junta's offer to fly him out of the country in a jet plane. Bad joke from that era about helicopter rides follows. A neighbor of mine was in Chile during the Allende years. Her late husband was a military attaché at the US Embassy. She said that a joke circulating at the time said that macho Allende - he was quite the philanderer- had sent homosexuals on helicopter rides over the ocean. (As I heard it, the joke's purpose was not to highlight any murderous intentions on Salvador Allende's part, but rather to point out he was very macho.) And from Stuart... In the smartphone world, youth anxiety is rising in the US, Canada, Britian, Australia, and NZ countries. Those are all the 'Five Eyes' governments. Correlation?
Stuart is stirring with a big spoon today. The 'mini' scandal at Columbia is par for the course. Perhaps the 'intifada' trio should be required to wear the Jewish star for the benefit of 'feeling' the intifada up close and personal. My Tesla is great, wonderful. My land-skimmer (not a car)

Just test drive; you will love it even if you don't care for EV's And the infrastructure for charging is all there, all over. (I have home charger with solar panels, but use the Tesla Supercharger--free for my model lifetime charging. You can thank unwilling taxpayers for subsidizing your personal transportation and foreign child labor for mining the toxic battery components.
Oh BTW, a little check on your smugness. https://www.rvmnews.com/2024/06/electric-vehicle-charger-fire-nearly-kills-ny-jets-wide-receiver-his-family/ "Whisper quiet"-all the more dangerous for pedestrians.
You mention the word "infrastructure". Have you considered the excessive damage to motoring infrastructure caused by much heavier electic vehicles? Admittedly, everyone else will have to pay for it, just like the subsidisation of your car. What happens to the battery when it eventually packs in? Will you dump the toxins contained near people's children and grandchildren? |
