Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Shut the border. put more people on the border and give them rubber bullets and orders to shoot anyone crossing the border and to continue shooting them with rubber bullets until they are back in Mexico. Anyone who somehow makes it into the country should be deported within 24 hours no exceptions. Make it a felony to be in this country illegally. Make it illegal to use any federal funds to support or assist illegals. Make it illegal to hire anyone not a citizen with a $1000 a day fine for doing it. Nearly Half of US EV Drivers Consider Switching Back to Gas Vehicles
Forty-six percent of EV owners surveyed in the United States say they will likely return to driving gas-powered vehicles. https://www.theepochtimes.com/us/nearly-half-of-us-ev-drivers-consider-switching-back-to-gas-vehicles-mckinsey-study-5672246?utm_source=epochHG&utm_campaign=CFP&src_src=epochHG&src_cmp=CFP I'm not surprised. They were sold as all-purpose vehicles, and as nice an idea they are, the tech just isn't up to it yet. Battery tech's the real problem, and there's no magic bullet in sight to fix them.
So they are doing it again. The shooting at the Arkansas grocery is being reported with little to nothing about the shooter. Yes he is under age but they already decided that he could be tried as an adult and that usually ends all the secrecy associated with minors. You know if the shooter was wearing a MAGA hat we would see his picture all over the news and we would even know who his parents and uncles are as well as where he lives and what school he went to. But right now there is a blackout on who the shooter is. Why? I say "why" because unless someone is preventing this from getting out it would be known. So why once more is the FBI and local police conspiring to keep us from knowing the facts?
QUOTE: Arkansas State Police on Friday identified the man they say opened fire at a Fordyce grocery store, killing three people and wounding 11 more, including two police officers. Travis Eugene Posey, 44, will be charged with three counts of capital murder, the agency said. More charges are pending. Gotta hand it to you. Credit where credit is due. Yet I couldn't find it and what I did find was inaccurate (I can only assume intentionally). So you found it on some obscure site that hadn't got the message to hide it. But that still doesn't explain why no TV news had the name and picture. Yes, now it has finally come out but why was it hidden all this time. They had they guy within seconds of him committing the crime but they kept it all secret. Again I'll say, why?
OneGuy: So you found it on some obscure site that hadn't got the message to hide it.
A few articles identifying the gunman: You're right, It's out now, Still wondering why it took so long. Got an answer for that?

You miss the point. Perhaps intentionally which only adds to the mystery. Let's say that indeed some news outlet identified the name of the shooter early on. In 99.9% of the cases all news outlets would have the name and picture if it was available. But this time they did not. Why is that? When someone asks the useful idiots point out that indeed "some news outlet" did!! As though mystery solved. But in fact it took over 48 hours for the more readily available news on the internet to show the picture and name the perp. Now that could be nothing. All or most of the news outlets simply forgot mysteriously that their job was... well the news. SO the fact that you can after the fact point to one news outlet that did print the name doesn't explain or excuse the total lack of information from the thousands of others. I am still suspicious that there was a reason. Maybe not. But in the past when ever the entire news service colluded to keep something quiet there was a reason and I have grown to distrust our purveyors of truth. And your need to prop them up on this makes me even more suspicious.

OneGuy: Let's say that indeed some news outlet identified the name of the shooter early on.
It was the Associated Press, which provides news for hundreds of other outlets, hardly "obscure". Our original post included links which reported the news the day after the shooting. We then showed you how to see for yourself, Google-fu, that the news was widely reported on Saturday. OneGuy: But in fact it took over 48 hours for the more readily available news on the internet to show the picture and name the perp. It was the next day. Keep in mind that the police were busy in the immediate aftermath of the shooting. A delay is normal so the police can gather evidence, including serving search warrants. Here's a video posted by ABC News on Saturday (2024-06-22T14:25:16): "Overnight, officials also identifying the suspect as 44-year-old Eugene Posey charged with three counts of capital murder with additional charges pending." — A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest. — Paul Simon

The "life on another planet" article is so full of BS that it should be removed from your post. First BS note is that the planet is 8X the size of Earth, so right off the bat the surface gravity is going to be enormous. 2d the article indicates that the "search for life"
involves detecting several specific molecules in the atmosphere of the planet, which detection has not yet been started but is planned for some future time when the James Webb is available. The rest of the article is a puff piece from NASA. I miss limited and constrained government. That is what the constitution was for and now it is being ignored by the Democrats.
In an interview with an expert on nuclear weapons the question was what would be the result if a nuclear war broke out? It was a very long interview and was prompted by current world events and the nagging belief by many in the know that we are literally facing nuclear war partly/mostly because our president is incompetent and the VP may just be even less competent. The short answer was that the expert said "if a nuclear war begins that within 72 minutes 5 billion people would be dead or walking dead. Almost everyone in the Northern hemisphere and a few significant countries in the Southern hemisphere. Most of Africa and South America would be spared direct attack and only have to deal with the long term effects of fallout. Stolen elections have consequences.
I think Chernobyl showed that maybe fallout wouldn't have the effect they thought it would. After all irradiating Western Europe with all sorts of good stuff should have caused hundreds of thousands of deaths, right?
I remembered how they were forecasting millions of cases of thyroid cancers. Best info I can find (Lancet) is less than 5k. Blast/heat however - yeah that'll do a shitload of damage. But I don't think radiation/fallout's going to be the big problem. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/landia/article/PIIS2213-8587(16)30112-7/fulltext |
