'MSNBC’s Joy Reid Says Justice Samuel Alito Wants an American ‘Ethno-State,’ Wants to Bring Back Segregation'
Seems to me that far-Left goofballs like her are trying to bring that back. "oligarchs and woke bureaucrats has bled the Golden State dry."
A more honest and accurate statement would be that racist politicians and other special interest politicians have bled the Golden State dry. Hispanic politicians pretty much run California and the unions, communists and LGBQT interests are more than happy to collaborate with the Hispanic lobbies to extract as much money and political power as they can at the expense of the tax payer. This is what the left has in store for all America. Identity politics is our future and YOU, middle class white America, are the new minority target for their anger. Hmm indeed. Not a valid data point if one is using it to measure the economic health of the state in comparison to other states or the economic conditions for the median resident.
A better data point for those two purposes would be per capita GDP indexed to cost of living. California sets in the bottom quintile for that ranking. Another data point which would be more useful would be net domestic migration, which California probably sets in the bottom decile. Total population growth/decline (%) would also be useful. Again, California probably sets in the bottom decile, and is certainly in the bottom quintile. If you have a point, maybe find a better argument for it. Although, I will say that I'm picturing One Guy as being out on a ledge while he's typing his comment and being especially oblivious when advancing the notion that Hispanics are the drivers of the political and social insanity of California.

That wasn’t the claim, but “oligarchs and woke bureaucrats has bled the Golden State dry”, which is obviously not the case. California’s economy is highly diversified, has healthy economic growth, and is the center of technological innovation, including AI. Per capita real gross domestic product of California Silicon Valley and now Cerebral Valley in San Francisco are attracting huge investments of money and talent in the AI revolution.

-2000 to 2019- STFU. YOU'RE ANNOYING THE ADULTS. I'm disinclined to accept you as the world's foremost authority on what One guy was referring to with the hyperbolic phrase "bled dry." I feel pretty confident that the first thing on his mind was not how much VC went to California or their GDP. It seems likely that his first thought wasn't even economic, but social or political.
But let's go with your notion of it being about California's econ0mic performance. VC allocation is often a lagging indicator since many investors have a constancy bias. That said, California's % of national VC has declined a little over the last few years. And "real per capita GDP" is not the same thing as per capita GDP indexed to cost of living. California is tied with Mass. for the third highest Gini Coefficient of any state. That disparity is likely to grow as the people migrating out are disproportionately middle class. Cali's fertility rate will continue to drop rapidly since millennials are migrating to states with a lower COL so they can afford children. All of those are facts that indicate that California's economy is not healthy, and is not serving its median resident well. The advantages they have in terms of climate, scenery, geography and natural resources makes this failure even more pathetic. James4HJ: That said, California's % of national VC has declined a little over the last few years.
California hit 43% of all U.S. venture capital in Q3 2023. New York and Massachusetts were distant second and third at 11% or so. James4HJ: And "real per capita GDP" is not the same thing as per capita GDP indexed to cost of living. Cost of living varies widely across California. You can buy a nice home for about $150,000 in the San Fernando Valley, but if you want to be where the action is, average homes in San Francisco are over $1 million. James4HJ: California is tied with Mass. for the third highest Gini Coefficient of any state. Gini coefficients are almost always higher in more financially developed economies, especially urban areas (or places with very low economic development). See Federal Reserve Bank Economic Policy Review, Why Are Some Places So Much More Unequal Than Others?, 2019. James4HJ: All of those are facts that indicate that California's economy is not healthy, and is not serving its median resident well. Median household income in California James4HJ: The advantages they have in terms of climate, scenery, geography and natural resources makes this failure even more pathetic. While California certainly has problems, as a country it would be the 5th largest economy in the world. California has some of the busiest seaports in the world, is a major center of technological innovation, aerospace, venture capital investment, entertainment, a producer of natural resources including petroleum, forestry, grows half of America's nuts and vegetables, and now sports a median household income of over $100,000. Not sure why you would denigrate one of the most important and productive parts of America.

"California hit 43% of all U.S. venture capital in Q3 2023." FYI, the link says 46%, not 43%. Either way, it's a classic example of cherry picking. It was 36% in Q2 2023. An honest person would have mentioned that. Or better would have the data for the last 40 quarters. I'll add, that % dramatically overstates California's VC haul, as much VC is credited to the corporate HQ of the recipient, not where the money is ultimately spent. Even very young California IT startups are contracting out much work and hiring remote workers to/in other states, meaning the actual VC expenditure is occurring in those other states.
"Cost of living varies widely across California" True in all states. Which is why you use the average when comparing states. "You can buy a nice home for about $150,000 in the San Fernando Valley" BS. Average home sale price in the San Fernando valley is $840,000. A quick pursual of realtor.com indicates that a small (

James4HJ: It was 36% in Q2 2023.
You do realize that’s a huge number? For the year 2023, it was 40%. Q1 2024, California was at 59%. That’s hardly “failure”. James4HJ: "Cost of living varies widely across California" True in all states. Quite. Which brings up the broader point. Talent attracts talent. Urban places like the San Francisco Bay Area are centers for innovation. As talent moves in, property values and costs go up. Many in the middle class move out, and either commute, or find work in the suburbs. Retired people also leave. That leaves the entrepreneurs, the rich investors, and the essential personnel needed to keep things running. The Gini index rises. This is as true in New York City as it is in St. Louis or Atlanta. The difference is that in California, because so much of the whole state is developed, the effect is exaggerated. The claim that California is a “failure” is not accurate. California has a vibrant economy and culture. The argument based on pointing out problems in the state does not support the claim as all states have problems, and because the problems mentioned are actually due to California’s very success. If the argument were that California has problems that need to be addressed, then sure. But that’s not the argument that was raised.

Are the citizens of Washington State going to stand for kids being sent to jail because they did donuts on a "flag" that was painted ON A FREAKING ROAD? What the hell is wrong with people?
There are pictures of tread marks they left that weren't even in the painted intersection. Now if it was a United States flag painted in the road and this happened they would give these kids medals and the ACLU would be offering free legal counsel.
The pride flag is a religious symbol, what happened to separation of church and state? Why is the religion of pride force feed to students in school? Their idols, the cross dressers, children are forced to worship. Why is this acceptable?
Massachusetts now has a bill going through the legislature to sell babies! Wake up people. The Left is evil. They must be stopped. "...Vandalizing Pride Mural"
This is the whole purpose of the hate crimes legislation. It makes a crime or adds a crime to go after anyone who disagrees with the preferred narrative. End hate crime charges. Either you did or did not commit a crime and your hate or love is irrelevant. Also the exact reason that this monument to pride is painted on a public street is exactly to bait someone to do what these kids did. It is a trap, it was intended to be a trap and your local politicians helped set up the trap. And the final irony is that they hate you, the LGQTB community hate the normal people and remember that when they hold up their "no hate" signs. Everything they do, 100% of it is fake intended to harm you and your children. mu·ral

At very least these charges should be dismissed on the basis of prosecutorial illiteracy. 'Sleeping MAGA Giant Of Europe Finally Awakens, And The Global Left Could Not Be More Terrified...'
Is it possible to write a more incoherent headline? Or to make a worse assumption about the intelligence of your readers? 'Why I don't read the Daily Caller', in one headline. Though I find good articles to read at the Daily Caller, your point is well taken.
Despite gains by the "far right" in the recent elections, they have no more than about 30% of the vote in those countries. While that is much better than they have been doing, it is a long way from a majority. At the EU parliament, it sounds like little has changed from the recent elections. Status quo appears secure there. I would agree that the ruling class is concerned. If the trend continues they may be in real trouble. OTOH, perhaps they could take a page out of the Democrats' book and just rig future election? The state of Michigan just completed a audit of the Dominion voting machines to see if they were rigged. The state AG is blocking the disclosure of the audit results. Why? What are they hiding?
It would be more productive to put money into weather science rather than climate pseudoscience but then the grifters would be in the unemployment line and the politicians funding the climate crap would be in line with them.
