We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Still can't make links, but I can do posts and, it seems, Youtubes.
Armed with the Merlin app, below are what we (it) identified by sound in beautiful northwestern Connecticut. Saw a lot of them too:
American Robin Field Sparrow Song Sparrow Yellow Rumped Warbler Yellow Warbler Goldfinch Redstart Canada Goose Black and White Warbler Red-eyed Vireo House Finch Indigo Bunting Grey Catbird Tufted Titmouse House Wren Rose-Breasted Grosbeak Common Yellowthroat Chimney Swift Baltimore Oriole Chipping Sparrow Barn Swallow Northern Cardinal Blue Jay Redwinged Blackbird Brown-headed Cowbird Louisiana Waterthrush Eastern Kingbird Red-Tailed Hawk Warbling Vireo BC Chickadee Eastern Phoebe Great Crested Flycatcher Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker Nashville Warbler Mourning Dove Eastern Bluebird
Just downloaded the Merlin app to my phone, finally. I work our land outside quite a bit, and have been steadily identifying the flora using iNaturalist. Now it's time for fauna!
Google is sneaky, though. They position their own 'bird identify' app right next to Merilin, and then they further position the 'install' button in a way that makes you assume that it's for Merlin. Sneaky, devious b*stards. Uninstalled it right away.
And then today, got word from AT&T, in a letter dated a month ago, that, by the way, we had us a little 'data breach' problem a while back......too bad, so sad.
Meanwhile we've been jumping through our butt the past 3 weeks replacing our credit cards because of fraud activities: Mystery solved. Thanks AT&T !
Check your credit cards and accounts history, folks.
