We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

RFK Jr's brain worm was most likely acquired while he was visiting some third world shithole. The rich like those kind of vacations for some reason. Biden Administration Quadruples Tariffs On Chinese EVs

One would think that if the Biden Administration really wanted to save the planet, they would welcome these cheap EVs with open arms. After all, domestic EV production is heavily subsidized to make them more affordable. Why would they not want even cheaper EVs from abroad? After all, if life on Earth is at stake, it shouldn't matter where the EVs come from, only that they are produced in large numbers in order to eliminate ICE vehicles as quickly as possible..

Well . . . you all know the answer. It's not even remotely about the planet. It's about the accumulation of money and power by those at the top. Chinese vehicles threaten the revenue stream, so like gangsters, they have quadrupled the tariff to get their cut and/or protect their turf.
