Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

After reading the headlines it would appear that crazy is the new pandemic virus. The only 'shot' to clear the virus would seem to be 30.06. No boosters required.
QUOTE: TRUMP IN THE SUPREME COURT . . . Presidents surely should have immunity with regard to some official acts, perhaps all. . . . Justice Gorsuch declares that is essentially immunity for some official acts. Does that mean the president can set up a sign in front of the White House selling pardons or nuclear secrets? QUOTE: Justice Alito now joins Justice Kavanaugh in suggesting that the fraud conspiracy statute is very vague and broadly drawn. Even if true, that has nothing to do with the appeal concerning immunity and would apply to any defendant under the statute. More important, Trump has argued that virtually any act under the color of presidential authority is immune from criminal sanction, including murdering political opponents or staging a coup. How could such an argument be taken seriously at the highest levels of the American judiciary? Through sleepless nights and restless days,
His mind ensnared in endless haze. Every word, each tweet, a trigger, Trump's presence a relentless figure. In every corner, every glance, Zachriel sees the world's advance, As tainted by the one he loathes, His sanity the toll it looms. Yet, in his heart, a silent plea, For peace from this cacophony. To break the chains, to find release, From Trump's grip, a lasting peace. But till that day, he'll fight the storm, His mind a battleground forlorn. Zachriel, trapped in fervent strife, A casualty of Trump's harsh life. You tell me, Zac, how would the argument made by lower courts that of course a president wasn't immune from prosecution because Trump is being prosecuted be taken seriously.
Zac, how about Jack Smith's attorney arguing that presidents have no immunity for official acts?
Or how about the government's position that the DOJ, or any prosecutor should just be trusted to not engage in political decision making when determining if, or what someone should be prosecuted for? That sound right to you. Or, as Gorsuch noted, should Obama be tried for murder. Or should the determination by the Obama DOJ that he couldn't/shouldn't be immutable? So many questions. So few neurons in y'all's skull to try to cis out a reasonable response or two. "Does that mean the president can set up a sign in front of the White House selling pardons or nuclear secrets?"
Well, Zac, that sounds exactly like a situation that impeachment is intended to handle. But out of curiosity, do you have any actual moral outrage about that sort of thing or does it just seem too inartful and common to be so open about it? What was your outrage level about Clintin enabling the transfer of technology to China that made their ICBMs much more accurate? Or Clintin granting pardons to clearly undeserving people who just happened to make a lot of political contributions to him and his allies? Clear up whether Hillary can be prosecuted under Bragg's "good faith, non-political" novel merging of NY state law and federal election law for using a lawyer to pay for a nondisclosure agreement. Since she used a lawyer to pay for the fake Russian collusion document during her presidential campaign?
How many laws do you think red state AGs can find Biden to have violated that they can shoehorn into a state prosecution? His brother, son and maybe even Dr. Jill might have some exposure as well. There's lots of fun to be had here. James: Or how about the government's position that the DOJ, or any prosecutor should just be trusted to not engage in political decision making when determining if, or what someone should be prosecuted for?
No one should be beyond accountability. Federal prosecutions are subject to statutory, regulatory, judicial, and grand jury oversight. Why should it be different for Trump than any other defendant? James: as Gorsuch noted, should Obama be tried for murder. You aren’t being specific, but if an American citizen wages war or is a terrorist threat, and if that person is outside the reach of legal means of apprehension, then the United States has the right to neutralize (and if necessary kill) that person. A political opponent, no matter how corrupt or dangerous, is not outside the reach of the law. James: Well, Zac, that sounds exactly like a situation that impeachment is intended to handle. Well, James, that’s not a criminal prosecution. James: What was your outrage level about Clintin enabling the transfer of technology to China that made their ICBMs much more accurate? The technology transfer was incremental and didn’t affect the basic nuclear deterrent. There was a valid purpose, to balance Russia, to further integrate China into the world economy, and to provide economic benefits for the United States. Even if you argue it was unwise, it was a power congress granted the president. James: Clintin granting pardons to clearly undeserving people who just happened to make a lot of political contributions to him and his allies? It had the appearance of corruption, however, it lacked evidence of criminality. James: Since she used a lawyer to pay for the fake Russian collusion document during her presidential campaign? It wasn’t fake, but raw intelligence. New York law wouldn’t be applicable. Civil penalties were imposed by the FEC. Notably, instead of responding, you diverted with “But her emails!” There were two questions in that comment and one in this comment. Re: Feminism has left middle-aged women like me single, childless and depressed
Sorry. Don't play the victim. You made the choice to be a feminist. Suck it up and take responsibility for your choices. Do remembber that Mandela was not nearly as good as he was pretended to be. Although that was largely Winnie, Nelson was still neck-deep therein.
A Principal Was Removed, Faced Threats for Making Racist Comments. There's Just One, Major Problem.
False charges of racism? Where have we heard this before? One example of many is Jussie Smollett. Though there is a difference from the two. Jussie was trying to create a "social justice" moment by creating a MAGA moment at 3 am in 10 degree Chicago. This wasn't difficult to catch, as a MAGA assault at that time and that temperature and that place -Chicago is MAGA country?- seemed highly improbable. This guy was trying to get back at the principal who had fired him for embezzling school funds- making an unauthorized payment to his assistant coach roommate. Catching this fabricated stuff involved a lot more skill. I hope this guy gets some prison time. At least he will lose his teaching license. As long as they figure there are good odds of getting away with it, a few blacks will create racism charges to advance themselves or to advance their agenda. Unfortunately for their calculations, the more whites hear cries of "wolf," the less whites will believe them. Count me as one of them. I heard my first bogus racism charge back in the '60s. re In First, 17 Nations Release Joint Statement Demanding Hamas Release All Hostages
