Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"Uri Berliner, a veteran at the public radio institution, says the network lost its way when it started telling listeners how to think." I used to listen to NPR all the time when I was driving cross country for my business and I could pick up the station almost anywhere. I quit listening completely when NPR kept continually telling lies about Bill Clinton's behavior. Ever since then I have refused to tune in that station which I know would not tell the truth in any matter of news.
My recent forays into NPR indicate that climate change causes everything
I stopped when Car Talk's Frick and Frack got so preachy that I realized they were Frickin' Freaks.
It's a sad outcome for NPR. They have always been more liberally-biased than even Berliner realizes, but that was OK by me - it was out front and secondary to their commitment to good journalism. That was in the 1970s, as I listened to them while working through school. By 1990, they had become a mostly-lost cause when it came to reporting on social and political issues, with a few memorable points of light on entertainment still shining.
But now I can't stand them as an information source. I tune in from time to time to re-calibrate my awareness of their bias in reporting - it permeates the airwaves now. Now it's gotten to the point that bias dictates programming - the topics selected for discussion are invariably confined to a narrow range of topics: Gender Industry issues, or bizarre Climate Impact stories, or Race-based Grievances. It has become something absurdly formulaic: Identity Politics 50% of the time, Culture Wars-Against-Conservatives 30% of the time, Climate Hysteria the remainder. The points of light that formerly made them bearable, the classical music or jazz, or art programs, are simply not worth the ear time, now. They have made themselves unlikable, and now they dare the audience to point this out, demanding they conform. Aggie,
I agree with everything you said. I had the same exact same experiences with NPR and I would have written exactly what you did. A friend and I were just lamenting just the other day how much we miss "A Prairie Home Companion". We knew that Garrison Keeler was a lib and a flake, but it didn't show up much in the show. Just good old fashioned radio dramas, music, and jokes. It was a great way to spend time while traveling in the car. There were other shows that were the same. Today, I can't find anything redeeming at NPR . . . I listen to my local public station for the Jazz but have to switch it off when the news comes on. I can deal with the slanted bias, but what puts me off more is the condescending tone with which they deliver it. "I'm telling you things a smart person would already know."
In San Antonio we're blessed with two college radio stations, one of which KRTU, plays 17 hours of a-political jazz every day.
They [gender clinicians] see no possibility of iatrogenesis — a medical intervention that unintentionally induces harm.
QUOTE: I beseech you, in the bowels of Christ, think it possible you may be mistaken. --Oliver Cromwell One day soon all the ads for joining the grift of Camp Lejune law suits will be replaced with ads to joint the class action suits against hospitals, doctors and others who cut of body parts and gave puberty blockers to children or advised children that they were a different gender. Of course the damage will not and can not be undone. This trans-stupidity is dastardly and the dastards should be punished but the damage to children and stupid/mentally ill adults cannot be corrected and that is a shame. A shame that the medical community will have to own and deal with for years.
It is the modified marxism of the Gramsci/Marcuse gender and race hustle that backstops all the lgbtqwxrz/BLM freakshow. James Lindsay got it right.
The current law/medicine 'profession' has deteriorated into just another DIE platform, along with education, which continue to sink further into the gutter of life. The Crumbley trail is a very bad precedent. I would feel much better about it if it were applied across the board. That is let you child drive and they have an accident and the parents should bot go to jail for 10 years. You child is out roaming the streets at night and they hijack a car or rob a 7/11 than the parents go to jail for ten years. Let you child go on a date and they rape someone than the parents go to jail for ten years. Most parents in the 18 years that they bring up a child are negligent in some way. Should they all go to jail? Yet in big cities today we have murders committed by adults that judges let lose on no bail. The justice system is upside down. The only people who get punished are those that the activists target. Make no mistake the Crumbley trial is about activism against the 2nd amendment. An intimidation tactic. just one of the many assaults on the constitution. I think in Scotland and Canada it would be a hate crime for me to say this.
My last hurrah with NPR was after a threat made to a democratic figure, the talking head said ominously that the Family research council (or some such) would not agree to an interview, thereby telling the listeners that Conservative think tanks were prolly to blame, by inuendo.
Schools out forever...that alice cooper song was released in the midst of rebellious high school days for me - spring 1972 -
Well, we got no class And we got no principals And we got no innocence We can't even think of a word that rhymes It was funny and sort of an anthem, I remember singing along with buddies...and it was popular, a commercial success. Teachers and old folks didn't like it. Thanks for the reminder! re I’ve Been at NPR for 25 Years. Here’s How We Lost America’s Trust.
This is a well wrtten article. Thanks for posting. Sadly, the author's type, those on the left that want a free exchange of ideas, are a very endangered species. He is very fortunate he hasn't been canceled. While there is grim satisfaction that someone on the inside at NPR recognizes the problem, nothing is going to change. In the late 1990's Congress passed numerous laws to open up the mortgage industry to people who didn't qualify for a loan. And to make this possible, since the banks and intelligent people didn't want to participate, they allowed government to underwrite the loans and to buy them from the banks and mortgage companies. So housing went crazy for the next 9-10 years. There were people with no money or jobs buying houses, lying on the applications. People buying multiple houses on pure speculation. A rampant uncontrolled sometimes criminal mortgage/housing fueled speculative boom. But it overflowed into almost every aspect of the economy not just homes but credit cards, vehicles, investing, the stock market, everything was on borrowed money or over extended credit. And it crashed in 2008 and Obama and the Democrats tried to patchwork fix it.
But they didn't fix it, they weren't smart enough to fix it, they had no clue. Their "fixes" essentially amounted to borrowing/printing money and throwing it at any and every problem or leak in the economic collapse dam and sprinkling billions around for friends and family too. Since early 2009 that has been going on unencumbered by intelligence or common sense. It was all hidden of course to keep the people from seeing that the king had no clothes, but you could see it if you weren't intentionally blind. Interest rates below 0%!!! WTF interest below 0%??? Explain that to me. As time went on we either ignored it all or used it to become rich, the stock market is buoyed up by the printing press money and since 2008 the number of millionaires has more than doubled. The housing industry has taken off, again. But with the more recent doubling down on printing and borrowing money to keep that can kicked down the road inflation has sprung up. It now takes $1,000,000,000,000 of fake printing press money every 90 days to keep the goddamn can kicked down that road to great depression 2.0. THAT is in addition to what is spent from record high tax revenues. AND THAT is what we can see... what can't we see? What are they still keeping secret from us? The economy is not "good" it is a Potemkin economy. Everything is fake; the stock market is fake, almost everything is over valued by 100% - 200% or more. The housing market is fake. the job numbers are fake, there are 7,000,000 missing workers and we don't have a clue where they are or how they are surviving. Most of the gains in the fake job market stats are due to hiring illegal workers. The crime stats are fake, the truth is far worse than they will admit. Everything the federal government has it's fingers in is fake; that is they are lying to you because the truth will scare you, piss you off or both.
There is a red line in national and international economic data for debt of countries and that is when debt exceeds the GDP it's over there is no coming back and the only thing that can put it all back to normal is an economic crash where everyone goes bankrupt and after 2-10 years of suffering and hard work the country rises up from the ashes and effectively begins again. We didn't do that in 2008!!! We should have. It would have then taken 2 years of suffering to get out of the mess the Democrats caused with their crazy mortgage rule tampering. Instead we opted for Obama's printing presses (an idea he got from Zimbabwe just a ways South of Obama's birthplace in Kenya). Now we are going to have to take door number two which will be closer to 10 years of economic depression to fight our way out of this mess.
So how long will they keep kicking that can? And how long can they? I'm guessing that "IF" Trump wins the people in power (no, that isn't Biden) will take that opportunity to sabotage the country thus eliminating any chance of a controlled or mitigated economic collapse. They want the big one, the Oct 29 1929 crash 2.0. They will insulate themselves from it. Pelosi and the other Dems will sell their stock at the peak and move to a safe and quiet country to ride out the storm. But you won't have that chance. It's over, we just don't know it yet. |
