Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

The war on Tik Tok is being driven by google. Tik Tok is eating YouTube's lunch when it comes to advertising revenue. All the rest is but a smoke screen.
Follow the money. There is open and blatant racism on display for all to see. Hollywood and the music industry is outraged that Beyonce actually made a country music album. But no! Not white Hollywood and music industry, no! The POC part of Hollywood and the music industry is angry at Beyonce. Azealia Banks calls Beyonce "Whiteyonce" and accuses her of "white woman cosplay". Erykah Badu was outraged about the patriotic imagery and Beyonce's "false pro-USA rhetoric". I guess that they don't just hate white people but they hate the USA too.
I wonder if Beyonce will be canceled for "cultural appropriation." Doubtful.
That video of the border is sickening. Makes my blood boil. There is no other word for it but invasion. I don’t believe for a moment that those people busting through the barrier, want to assimilate into the American culture. They are here for other purposes.
I'd rather hear someone blather on about the merits of craft beer than listen to or read someone using the verb "cringe" as an adjective.
The author is worried about the small proportions of BIPOCx owning craft breweries, but oblivious to the fact that two of the most popular non-craft beers in the US today are Corona and Modelo. The whole discussion is a big So What.
I bailed when one of his criteria for a craft brewery not being "cringe" was that it adhere to DEI principles.

Well first off, Courtney Iseman is a woman, which explains: 1) The use of "cringe" 2) The focus on DIE 3) The snotty attitude Dear Courtney, please sip your hard cider or chardonnay and leave us beer drinkers alone. Go to another bar and enjoy an overpriced "frou-frou" cocktail which apparently forms over half your meager supply of articles. re Is wearing a necktie civilized, or fuddy-duddy?
Wow! Who knew the decline in necktie wearing is responsible for the decline in civility? I have long wondered about society's fixation with neckties. There has to be a basic psychological aspect to it that I am missing. Why do people think they are so stylish? Mankind went thousands of years without wearing them and no one complained, why do people like Suber think they are so important now? I hate the dang things. 1) They're dangerous. They can get caught in machinery and kill or maim you in an instant. 2) They are incredibly uncomfortable, particularly in hot weather. At least ties are the only torture device that men are encouraged to wear, women have a multitude of them. I couldn't agree more about the stupid necktie. I too, hate the damn things.
Horses for courses, folks.
Neckties are clearly inappropriate for machinists, mechanics, cowboy, or oil rig roughnecks. On the other hand, coat and tie should be de rigueur for weddings, funerals, or graduations, when one should show respect for the occasion and the individuals being celebrated. I am continually appalled at folks here in San Antonio showing up to Sunday services, weddings, baptisms, or funerals in sports jerseys and baggy "seven-day shitter" basketball shorts. But perhaps those are the only nice clothes they own... I get your point. When I worked I wore a tie and a suit or jacket. I kind of liked getting dressed for work and had a closet full of clothes to choose from. When I retired I gave it all to goodwill and kept one tie that meant something to me. Everything else gone, not even a white shirt left. I now dress to please myself and I honestly wish I had made that decision decades ago. My clothing suits the weather and my tastes and I wear sandals and cargo pocket shorts in warm weather. I go where I want and wear what I want just as though I was a free man who was capable of thinking for myself. If that offends someone you cannot imagine the great joy I take in that.
All problems have simple solutions. But you may not like the solution and that is a problem.
In the recent border riot the National Guard wasn't "left helpless". They were set up to be helpless. They should have had rubber bullets, tear gas and dogs. AND they should have been backed up by law enforcement with guns.
The problem is we apply the law differently depending on the agenda. What we need to do is make it a felony to be in the U.S. illegally AND require an arrest. No other option without regard to some sanctuary city/state declaration. Someone will say that they can't legally do it. Well... not true. IF you beat your wife or child and the police show up they MUST arrest you. Not can, not should not might they MUST arrest you, by law. Apply the same standard to illegal invaders. Then a second federal law for anyone arrested for the crime of being in the U.S. illegally MUST be deported within 24 hours, AND can never enter the U.S. legally ever again. The use those 82,000 recently hired IRS employees to shuttle them back to their home country in handcuffs. No exceptions, no excuses. Then watch and see how many self deport. 1guy: your solutions for illegal immigration are mere fantasies since they appear to be predicated upon the view that the recent unpleasantry at the border was merely a riot not an invasion.
I would prefer the Kent State methodology. Live ammunition.

Johnson's margin drops to one vote as Gallagher heads for early exit https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2024/03/22/congress/gallagher-leaving-early-00148586 Remember in the 2022 election how no one could explain how badly the Republican candidates did? They even tried to blame it on Trump. But now Ronna McDaniels has just been hired by MSNBC. Hmmm! I wonder if she was always a Rino and sabotaged Keri Lake and other Republicans. Uni-party wins again, Americans lose.

Looks like vaccines are going to be the new climate change. They cause every problem!
A reasonable question, given the data indicating that the undeclared DNA fragments in the commercially manufactured mRNA "vaccines" can be incorporated into one's own DNA and cause cancers.
The pharma and media are hard-pressed to refute the "turbo-cancers" being seen, but they are working furiously to discredit the idea. Just like they worked furiously to discredit anything that would invalidate the EUA 3 years ago, or furiously claimed the mRNA treatment was ""safe and effective" though it became clear it was neither. This is the result when the fact-checkers are controlled by the people lying to you in the first place. |
