I had to read some Butler claptrap when I was in grad school. I am a reasonably intelligent human being, and I was having a hard time. When visiting an incredibly intelligent human being (one of the smartest people I knew who had read a huge breadth of work) started leafing through it while I was there and after a while pronounced it nonsense. She started diagraming sentences in it to show how nonsensical it was. I wish I had recorded her take down. It was epic.

Somewhere along the line, Butler discovered that if one writes using insanely abstruse language with an impenetrable vocabulary, using ambiguous concepts, no one will have the courage to call it out as incomprehensible nonsense.

She has always used inelegant English. Apparently, for the first time, it is not gobbledygook.

I enjoyed diagramming sentences in junior high, but never diagrammed any sentences after that. Interesting to know diagramming sentences was a good way to define gobbledygook.

I am reminded of taking the GRE, fifteen years after taking the SAT. In the Verbal section of the GRE, I was tasked with multiple-choice answers for some "social science" passage. I decided to choose the answer that was written in the most abstruse language possible: sociology-speak, as it were. It was apparently a good choice, as my Verbal GRE score was slightly above my Verbal SAT score, in spite of having led a STEM life since high school.

Indeed. One can see the potential of AI here.

Imagine AI being able to rewrite everything on the web in order to conform to The Narrative, Winston Smiths would not be required.

While we ridicule the AI produced result of a black George Washington or POC as the Founding Fathers, this type of history rewrite isn't intended for old geezers. It is intended for children.

Global Warming indoctrination has been going on in the schools for what? 40 years or more? And a large percentage of young people believe it to be true, because that is what they have been taught. So why not teach them that George Washington was really black and Thomas Jefferson was Hispanic with AI generated images to back them up. Real history could be denounced as "misinformation" and censored by the AI. My guess is that in 50 years, substantial numbers of people would believe our actual history was false.

It's an insidious and scary supposition.

Ireland, like most of Europe, needs all or most of their liberal/communist politicians to die suddenly and to then elect "Irish" conservatives to office. Then, call up the army, round up the newcomers and physically fly them back to their home country. Purge Ireland of the newcomers and restore it to "Ireland". Then create a strong and effective border guard with the legal authority to shoot to kill any "invaders" if necessary. You too Europe!! The UN and the EU are destroying your countries. Ditto U.S. and Canada. Do it or die.

Washing State will do away with the bar exam? Yeah, like that's going to help anything. All they are doing is trying to pull everyone down to the lowest common denominator...and that never works.

It's time for central and eastern Washington to secede from coastal Washington as quickly as it can because the Blues are nuts.

I don't know of a legal way for this to happen as the Lefties in western Washington would never allow it.

However . . . . and I am just thinking out loud here, what would happen if said counties voted to secede over the objections of coastal Washington and elected their own governor? In addition the citizens quit paying Washington state taxes.

The new area would NOT be a state. States have to be admitted by Congress. I don't even know if it would qualify as a US territory, though I believe it would as it would still be American soil, but would it have US territorial status? I imagine that in this scenario there would be too much legal ambiguity for Idaho to annex eastern Washington, but what if they did anyway? What would the Feds do?

Would Washington have the brute force to bring them back into the fold? Would the Feds intervene on behalf of the state of Washington?

Lots of questions. Lots of unknowns.

IN order to lawfully make a state out of territory that is currently incorporated in an existing state, you would need to pass a referendum by majority vote both within the seceding region and the current state overall, then both houses of Congress would have to pass admission resolutions. Since such a process would likely mean two more Republican senators, it would be a tough sell in a Democratic-majority chamber.
About the only possibilities would be to annex the territory to Idaho or to pair it with DC statehood, which raises other Constitutional issues.

If Washington insists on going the route of incompetent mediocrity why not go the whole way for the 'professional' class. They just need to ban all licensing and anyone can hang up a shingle.

What other types of licensing exams negatively affect minorities? I’m sure the professionals engineering exam does. Ditto any medical licensing. Plumbers, electrical. It’s all so negative. Poor minorities.

I don’t usually toot my own horn, however I prophetically warned that DEI is DIE. As in, these racial lunatics are going to kill a whole lot of people. At the same time, they will destroy the American experiment: Government of the People. A government that was instituted to protect the rights of the individual.

The latest DIE hire says the First Amendment, negatively impacts the power of government. Let that sink in. Then ponder why exactly they want to get rid of things like the Bar exam. Are you starting to understand why wheels are falling of airplanes?

So you can't leak confidential documents from Dominion but a President/Vice President can leak classified documents to his biographer and no big deal.

Chicago plans to raise the cost of housing by increasing the property taxes. The money ironically will be used to help fight homelessness. I wonder what it is that makes home ownership and rentals so high that so many people find themselves homeless. But, don't worry, your tireless politicians will stop at nothing to raise taxes making homes more expensive in their fight to make housing more affordable.

Imagine (Beatles song "Imagine" playing in the background) that the 30,000,000 illegal aliens living in the U.S. today were deported and what that would do for the cost of housing/rents. Ahh! But diversity is our strength don'tcha know. Besides, the politicians know a way to solve all our problems from global warming to high cost of housing. Raise taxes! And if the problem gets worse? Why, raise taxes even more.

It appears we are sleep walking towards war, perhaps in Europe or maybe with China. No one wants to serve in the woke military so the draft will be invoked. I have a suggestion. Let all those who got their student loans excused be drafted first, give them a chance to show their gratitude to the nation for that gift. Second group should be anyone who was granted citizenship in the last 10-20 years. Again to be fair allow these new citizens to show their dedication and embrace America.

I am always surprised and outraged when people who think they are intelligent and informed are surprised and outraged that many people are stupid and ignorant.

Stupid and ignorant is the human norm.

If you don't expect that, and plan for it, you are normal.
