We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

One wonders where all the previously allocated 10s of billions have been skimmed off to?

Oh Canada! How you have fallen. Who are those armed thieves that want to steal your car? Are they "teens"? "Newcomers"? Who is this police chief that is recommending we put our valuables on the front porch in hopes that the thugs settle for that and don't take your life? And why did Canada pass laws that took away your guns and gun rights but does NOTHING to criminals with guns? Hey, Canadians, do you see the connection with your government taking your guns and your police advising you to put the family jewels on the front porch for the thugs with guns? Anyone? I'm not into video games and some of them do seem stupid. But I have a friend whose son joined the Air Force and his job is flying drones from 10,000 miles away and he is good at it. He credits playing video games for his skill.

I would not be surprised if it were possible to create video games that would be educational and instructive. I think it is a mistake to dismiss the potential here. I think what we need to do is bring together serious minded people with video game programmers and create games that will teach math, science, engineering skills, etc. I don't see any limits to what could be taught using a video game platform.

Calling it a stupid waste of time is just an old fogey's way of saying "anyone who doesn't enjoy their leisure time the same way I do is an idiot." It's just a hobby and/or entertainment. If it's a stupid waste of time then so is growing roses, wood working, or lifting weights.

Joe Biden seemed normal... The JoeBamma presidency shifted into high gear when the 'fundamental transformation' was interrupted by Trump.
The abnormal now appears to be stuttering and sputtering as people are starting to notice that 'he' and the political menagerie were never normal.

NATO's welfare states... We need to resign from our involvement in this aimless, listless, mindless creation and leave it to those who have been riding the wagon and let them push it where they may AND live with the results they deserve.

Sweet Jesus, no! If the truth were known it would precipitate another great depression. It's coming anyway but at my age everyday me and my family aren't suffering from the fiscal stupidity of our congress and presidents is a good day. The NIH has quietly added Ivermectin to the list of approved medications to treat Covid. This should be a great relief to all of those Covid patients whose doctors prescribed Ivermectin but the federal government blocked it and the patients died.

Regarding wasting time with video games, not necessarily worse than the time looking at clouds, trying to decide what to stream next. A respite, not a lifestyle. Like sport used to be!
