Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

The Informant at the Heart of the Gretchen Whitmer Kidnapping Plot Was a Liability. So Federal Agents Shut Him Up.

How about holding incompetent law enforcement accountable as well? https://nypost.com/2024/03/07/us-news/grandmother-wins-3-76-million-settlement-after-swat-raid/ I have a novel way to cook salmon that you probably never heard of. Double wrap it in foil and put it in the top rack of the dishwasher and run it. Perfectly cooked.
There is a book, it’s been around for thousands of years, it teaches you to focus on others, deny yourself. It’s nice to read that: “entire schools of therapy are focused on teaching people how to replace an inward-facing focus with an outward-facing focus to decrease distress and anxiety.” Therapist’s could save themselves, and their patients, a lot time, money and effort, by cracking open the Bible. They might also come to realize that humans are not just another animal, but beings created in God’s image.
I found the article linked by "cease fire" to be unsurprisingly biased and full of propaganda. The key propaganda statement basically says Israel deserved what it got on Oct 7 because the Israeli intelligence community failed to identify that risk. WTF! I guess we deserved 9/11 for the same reason. When it comes to this Hamas war common sense and honesty by the MSM is missing. Where is the embarrassment when they tell blatant and obvious lies? Why not just tell the truth? Get the facts right, report everything, point out the lies and propaganda and let the chips fall where they may.
The truth is the MSM has been doing this at least since the early 60's. Lie after lie and omission after omission to further a left wing agenda. The only difference now from the 60's is the internet. We can find the truth. We can find videos. Yes we find lies and propaganda on the internet too but we also find the stark unmitigated truth too and we get to make our own decisions instead of being fed pap. The bottom line is Hamas was a terrible terrorist group that should be destroyed/killed. AND that almost every resident in Gaza eagerly and openly supported Hamas and wants all Israelis killed. Don't whine to me now that you are reaping what you sowed. The "Palestinians wanted this, they demanded it, they supported it so enjoy. The impression that I got from the article is that the author was implying that Bibi and Co. knew the attack was imminent and refused to act because it would serve as an excuse to pursue unprecedented political territory. Sort of an Israeli version of 9/11 Truthers.
Whatever the cause, the outcome has been terrible. Harvard, in a Dramatic Development as Antisemitism Engulfs the University, Asks Bay State Taxpayers for a Bailout
I have been told repeatedly that Harvard's gigantic endowment was sufficient to tide them over any temporary financial setbacks, such as their recent donor defections. But now it appears that losses at the margins might be influential after all. “Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen and six , result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery” -- Dickens, David Copperfield One thing you can say about Harvard is that it is never lacking in chutzpah!
"
Harvard, in a Dramatic Development as Antisemitism Engulfs the University, Asks Bay State Taxpayers for a Bailout" The only way uppity groups and people respond when they are doing wrong is for people to completely stop giving them money. Big mouthed "movie stars" and hateful universities too. The Jews that have the money to donate need to stop giving them a cent and stop sending their kids there. Sometimes the only way for those people to understand is for the money to stop. Too bad the government doesn't catch on and keeps shelling out money to those doing wrong. It wouldn't hurt if some of us Gentiles--who have a bit of money of our own--stopped giving, too.
Of course DEI is killing the CHIPS Act; leftist ideology inserted into every bill is the poison-pill. They insist on including DEI demands in staffing and then act incredulous at costs that have to cover the zero added-value of their mandates. Really, I’m fine telling all leftists to fuck off and that their asinine ideology is killing America, but they don’t care about America, just their own power.
They actually expect a high tech manufacturing industry to survive by hiring low to no merit employees? Government is filled with 'wagon riders' but private enterprise cannot survive dragging dead weight around. Only monopoly entities can afford DIE mandates.
My perference for cooking salmon is in the microwave in a "Quick Gourmet" bag.
Steams it nicely! Then squeeze a lemon over it before eating. I've been eating less salmon these days, and more Steelhead trout. I find it similar, but tastier and more delicate. I cook it in a cast iron skillet, pre-heated hot on the stovetop, skin down, and in clarified butter.
When I pre-heat the skillet, I also pre-heat the oven to 400°F. Then, after cooking the skin-side of the steelhead for about 3 minutes on the stovetop, the whole skillet goes into the oven, top rack, under the broiler for about another 3. The fish comes out nicely browned and perfectly cooked. I like to use fresh dill and black pepper, and a little lemon zest Now, Ivy League colleges like Cornell and the University of Pennsylvania have decided to stop publishing the Dean’s List – a recognition of those students who worked hard to achieve academic excellence – to reduce “stress and competition.”
An alternative explanation is grade inflation. When everyone gets A's, an A, or making the Dean's List, is no longer a mark of distinction. Faculty report reveals average Yale College GPA, grade distributions by subject QUOTE: Seventy-nine percent of Yale College grades were in the A range for 2022-23 — nearly identical to figures released by Harvard College in October... Yale College’s mean GPA was 3.70 for the 2022-23 academic year, and 78.97 percent of grades given to students were A’s or A-’s. From the 1950s to circa 2010, the Ivy League grade point average increased from 2.4 to 3.5:2014:The Ivy League's crazy grade inflation, in one chart.I have to grill salmon to cut down on the oily taste.
I don'e eat salmon at all as I think it tastes like cat food. I understand most people like it but I do not.
It depends. Is your salmon fresh? Is it Alaskan caught? These two things make a huge difference. If it is just your personal taste well can't do anything about that. But if you're not getting good salmon that can be a problem.
Find a good seafood store and insist you get fresh caught salmon air transported unfrozen. Another thing to ask is if they can get Copper River caught salmon. If they can then they are a serious sea food store. I usually try to buy Copper River salmon at least once a year. It is only available in early spring and it is delicious. As an alternate, you can order from:

The Democrats are actually hiring illegal aliens to register illegal aliens as Democrats. The same people Biden opened the border for are being paid to go out and solicit others that Biden opened the border for to register as Democrat voters. Does this surprise anyone? Meanwhile Merrick Garland has began the process of trying to force states to not require voter id. Your country is being stolen from you and they don't care any longer if you know it.
Imagine that the CDC did a study on myocarditis effects of the covid vaccination that produced a 148 page result. Then, by law the CDC released this study but chose to redact "some of it". Would it then surprise you that every page of the 148 page report was completely redacted? Why? What could possibly be so secret in this kind of report that all of it had to be hidden from the public? Are you starting to believe that the worst fears, the worst conspiracy theories about the covid vaccine are true?
Don't they usually only redact security information related to government actions/secrets AND information that is related to criminal evidence? If they did a study of desert plants or herpes etc. there would be now government secrets or criminal activity. So isn't this a signal that the government did something they are trying to hide AND that it was a crime? Prove me wrong!
