Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

As for Politico and the "Christian Nationalism" hiding under their beds, I can only say to my fellow believers that while—as a Christian—I shan't be so rude as to tell them to get stuffed, I would, however, happily buy them a small gift certificate towards a session with the taxidermist of their choice.
It's pretty obvious they never had the fingers on a copy of the Federalist papers or the Anti-Federalist papers. Where do they find people that are that detached from a basic education?
From the link at Lucianne.com: "How is this person even allowed to comment on politics on TV with this level of dishonesty or stupidity?"
I'm guessing that's a rhetorical question. re Ukraine, What is needed is a peace deal.
The Ukraine War at Two: Time for some reality This is a very well written post describing the situation in Ukraine in an easy to read manner. https://smallwarsjournal.com/jrnl/art/ukraine-war-two-time-some-reality Re: I'll Vote for Anyone Who Promises to Nuke the Dept. of Education
No argument from me here but let’s remember that the reason for the Department of Energy was instituted to provide energy independence. Now that we know we can be energy independent if our government really wanted it - something the Department of Energy played no part in - shouldn’t that also be on the list of things to get rid of? Neither one is going anywhere.
But you knew that. Yeah. If either or both of those departments were disbanded, that would mean there is critical mass of intelligent life in Washington DC.
They will go. Some time, someway. Just a question of how and when. Not impossible that it could happen in our lifetime.
Short History of Toilet Paper
It's a relatively recent invention and I was astounded at how slow the public was to embrace toilet paper. Looks like a no-brainer. https://www.vintag.es/2024/02/short-history-of-toilet-paper.html Shedding Americas global credibility... the credibility is gone, all that is left is hubris.
You beat me to it. As long as the Joebama cabal remains in charge, it won't be coming back either.
On Peace, the US and Ukraine and all of Europe peaced out at Minsk in 2014 but unfortunately they all lied their heads off to Russia with the result we see today. Why would Russia or anybody believe any peacetalks would result in longterm peace when those rapscallions have made it clear that they view peace as nothing but a calm time to rearm and resume hostilities?
So Russia isn't the bad guy here? You agree with progressives now, and the US is to blame for all bad stuff? What about Russia's promise to respect the sovereignty and borders of Ukraine when the Soviet Union was dissolved?
To wit, you're probably one of the people who cheered the US invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq. Why were you wrong then. Or are you wrong now? "So Russia isn't the bad guy here?"
Yes, funny how that seems to get lost in the shuffle. You know, I can accept traditional American isolationism as a point of view despite disagreeing with it. But since when did America First as a ideology somehow mutate into a love-in with the Russians? Weird. "American isolationism"
Is simply a pejorative thrown out there by the elite who want the U.S. to be the word police so that they/their country can benefit by it. It isn't isolationism, it is minding your own business and taking care of priorities. "America First" is the prime ideology America should follow. It has zip to do with Russia. "Russia" is a distraction put out by those who would distract. There are no good guys here. Not Russia. Certainly not Ukraine. And absolutely not the US/NATO/WEF/Davos crowd.
When did Americans abandon a hard factual look at things, in order to play "Administration apologist-patriot?" re Are‘Islamists in Charge of Britain’?
The short answer is, not yet. But in 10 or 20 years? Who knows? I can imagine a time at some point in the future where indigenous Britains will have no say in how their country is run. Perhaps the ruling class in the UK can take a page from the Dems playbook and rig elections to keep themselves perpetually in power? Re: Christian nationalism on MSLSD--the comment below occurred to me as I watched the clip, but someone else said it better so I'm copying/pasting.
"Watch the leftwing authoritarian Marxist media create the Narrative in real time: 1, if you believe that our rights derive from God, then you are a "Christian Nationalist" 2, if you are a "Christian Nationalist," you are a dangerous proto-terrorist who must be surveilled, harassed, debanked, and imprisoned by the Marxist God-State" From https://ace.mu.nu/archives/408437.php Re: the raunch and college students
