Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

An odd thing has come to light. It seems that E. Jean Carroll has been raped a dozen or more times. Or more correctly she has claimed to be raped over a dozen times in her life. It seems she has this "rape obsession" and years ago was determined to be mentally ill, that is charges against the accused where dismissed because she lied and was clearly not mentally capable to continue the trial. And strangely this is just now being made public.
When calling a coin flip, I always looked to see what side was facing up before the flip.
More often than not, the side facing up at the flip was the winning call. YMMV... The WSJ Prostate Cancer article is here:
https://archive.ph/BbC0M I think a closer approximation to the truth is this: As the data record grows with this form of cancer, health administrators have noted that men suffering from this cancer often die from things other than prostate cancer, including old age and its associated maladies. They die with prostate cancer, but from something else, in other words. And because prostate glands have a rich blood supply, the prostate cancer almost always migrates elsewhere - the bones, the lungs, etc. We all die of old age. It isn't more fun to die of old age as a cancer sufferer. But: Noticing that men with prostate cancer often die of other things, the administrators that pay out medical claims have concluded that it would really be much better for all parties concerned - except the victim of course - if they just ignored prostate cancer. A few years ago, some insurers went so far as to declare it should no longer even be tested for (it's a simple, low-cost blood test, usually part of your annual work-up). Treatments for prostate cancer have expanded in their efficacy and even surgery is much lower risk and less invasive than it once was. They can precisely identify cancerous areas with modern imaging techniques, and they can precisely target those areas with focused radiation now. The treatments are effective and suffering is very limited, unlike chemo (some say they don't even notice it). This is simple cost-cutting profit motive at work, and nothing more, and it's disgusting. If your doctor is recommending that you watch cancer develop and hope that it's slow, you should get a different doctor, pronto. If you've ever cared for someone with medical problems, you learn very early that you must be a vocal and insistent advocate if you want to receive good medical care. It's not about being obnoxious - it's about being watchful, mindful, willing to ask questions, and willing to insist. You have to use these rules for yourself, too. "American Psychological Association claims merit-based hiring is UNFAIR in new study "
Assuming they practice what they preach, none of its members merit being members. Which explains the idiocy of their pronouncement. Why would anyone take the advice of less-qualified people? I was diagnosed with prostate cancer at age 64 with a biopsy Gleason score of 3+3. Watchful weighting was elected by my doctor and myself. A Doctor friend looked at my reports and said the two small spots were not troubling but a PSA of 10+ and rising was. He told me to get second biopsy after a suitable wait time. I did and Gleason rose to 4+3. I had DaVinci surgery to remove prostate. After surgery I sill had a PSA score and it was doubling in short period of time. Scheduled for 28 sessions of radiation and then hormone therapy. Doctor says everything is fine. There are side effects but I have no regrets as I am thoroughly enjoying my grandkids every day. I am 68 now and enjoying life. If I was in my late 70s I might have done things differently but not at 64.
Focus on Treatment, Not “Stigma”Why do we accept the disorder and violence stemming from untreated serious mental illness?
Perhaps because treatment isn't necessarily that effective. Any one with cancer should research fenbendazole . Lots of anecdotal data. No studies done as it is cheap , as in unprofitable for big pharma. Given time they will do a minor reformulation and skyjack the price.
Are Bankruptcies of Some US States in the Future?
https://mises.org/wire/are-bankruptcies-some-us-states-future The West’s humiliating electric car climbdown has begun
QUOTE: Rewind only a couple of years, and almost every president or prime minister was making electric vehicles the cornerstone of an industrial strategy. And yet, this week we have learned that Renault is abandoning plans to separately list its electric vehicle (EV) and software business, while Volvo is winding down its Polestar electric sports car subsidiary. In reality, amid an onslaught of Chinese competition, and falling sales, the West’s electric vehicle dream is quickly unravelling – and we need to relearn all the lessons in why grand, state-led industrial strategies never work. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2024/02/02/west-humiliating-electric-car-climbdown-begun/ Volvo just pulled the plug on its electric car brand. Reality is setting in.
It was never sustainable. It was never green. It was never possible on the scale they demanded and not possible on a greatly reduced scale. There is a place for EV's; golf carts, fork lifts, even a car to just drive in town, etc. But it cannot replace a gas or diesel car, bus and truck. It was always doomed to fail. They knew that. The politicians, the talking heads, the CEOs, everyone knew it. But... there was free money and influence, so they went down that road knowing it would fail but intent on bleeding the government teat dry.

1) Big contributor to crime by "military age males" among immigrants is the marked difficulty in getting a decent job, not a day work cash only black economy job. They must be in the US for at least a year before qualifying for employable status.
2)Volvo bailed out of Polestar but did not shut it down, they gave it back to Geely, who owns 100% of Volvo car and a large part of Polestar. |
