We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

" The problem becomes more serious that the groups that are reproducing fast as flies are the people who will not or cannot take care of their offspring. Burdening the people that do not reproduce very much. The millions coming into this country illegally will likely reproduce at alarming rates as it happens in ethnic communities here now.

Taibbi is right, and it's refreshing to see journalists finally recognizing their remit and stepping up to address it. Taibbi is no conservative, but these days, neither is he the life-long Democrat that he was raised to be. He and others like him, that have found the courage to speak to their convictions, deserve our support.

It's not a proposal to ban anything. It's a toolkit for anyone "with an interest in making their communication more inclusive." The Star Trek quote is just used as an example.

Shatner is a little late chiming in. The Star Trek franchise itself neutralized that iconic line back in 1987, replacing it with to boldly go where no one has gone before.

But then, that's the problem with the future, isn't it? It always seems to go out of date too quickly.

I am 70 and I have been hearing people say this nonsense as long as I can remember. The world improves in many ways (starvation poverty, less war) and grows worse in a few (larger government, less privacy) but people just have this feeling that everything is worse and it is unholy to bring children into it.

Worse than 14th C Europe? Really?

It's just a feeling. Optimists have children, pessimists don't.

A number of recent examples show that we live in a police state not unlike what has happened in countries which became communist/fascist states. The J6 persecutions, Just recently Peter Navarro convicted, many other Trump officials convicted, and now the anti-abortion Christians caught praying and singing in public. This is what out federal "justice" department has fallen to. What is different between Biden's administration in tyrannical communists administrations?

The law that the Christians were persecuted under is clearly unconstitutional. Any appeals court could and should overturn it and if it were to make it to the Supreme Court they would have no choice but to declare the law unconstitutional. Now the question is; will they? If the various appeal venues fail to recognize the unconstitutionality of this law it won't be because there is any actual doubt it will be because the courts have been stacked with left wing pro-communist judges.

Remember what Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn said in his book; The Gulag Archipelago. "“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family?..."

Once the communist fully take over our government it will be too late. The left has gulag fantasies for you. Read what many of the Hollywood elite and other famous leftists have said about all these court cases against anyone who agrees with Trump. They are happy with the fascism and they want more of it for you.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

If you are referring to the case concerning the Carafem Health Center Clinic in Tennessee, they were convicted by a jury of conspiring to obstruct access to the clinic, continuing their obstruction even after given police orders to leave.
