We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
By the way, peanuts are, of course, not nuts even though they look like nuts. Like so many foods that the world loves, peanuts originated in Central America.
We discovered some time ago that our dog was allergic to peanut butter and peanut butter treats. It caused uncontrolled itching and when we stopped giving her those treats, her condition cleared up. Who knew dogs could share allergies with humans (although neither my husband nor myself are allergic to nuts).
My problem is being allergic to food coloring, and food coloring is in everything. Food companies dance around the truth by using word like "natural food colorings," or use "caramel coloring" without telling you what combinations of red, yellow, and blue chemical food colorings they use to make "caramel coloring."
Read up on the side effects of annato---a natural food coloring. It's scary. No wonder our children are suffering. And we're giving them brightly colored gummie vitamins for their health.
