Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Mexican President Demands...
Shut the border down. No planes, trains, boats, trucks, cars people. Enforce it with armed men. Keep it shut down until all the illegals have been deported. It is time to restart Eisenhower's 'Operation Wetback".
The Left is so far 'round the bend they're rear-ending themselves.
QUOTE: The Greatest Scientific Fraud Of All Time -- Part XXXI If so, then the satellite data should show a different trend, perhaps a cooling trend, or no trend at all. Hmm, that's odd. They show the same trend. Okay. Let's look at the raw data, but instead of homogenizing, we'll examine each discontinuous section of data. Huh? That's odd too. What about ocean heat content? Wow! It's almost as if the surface warming trend is supported by several independent measures. mudbug: So the 1930s were some of the coolest years?
No. As your link states, regional warming was largely due to a variety of regional factors. While there was a global warming trend over the 1930s & 1940s, mean global temperature over the period was distinctly less than the current mean global temperature. There’s no attribution for the source of that chart. It purports to compare global temperatures but in the ‘30s, the vast majority of weather stations were in the US so anything that claims to show global temperatures are either lying or estimating based on mostly US temperatures. Not only that but that chart labels 1936 as one of the coolest years in the last century which is laughable.
The heat wave of 1936 was not only in the US but across the Northern Hemisphere: QUOTE: “The hot and dry conditions over the Great Plains during the Dust Bowl spread extreme heat to other areas of the Northern Hemisphere,” said Gerald Meehl, a scientist with the National Center of Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and lead author of the new study. “If you look at daily record high temperatures, some of these areas are just now breaking the records that were set in the 1930s.” (https://news.ucar.edu/132872/1930s-dust-bowl-affected-extreme-heat-around-northern-hemisphereThe “raw data” you mentioned in post #3 is not raw temperature data but a comparison an average between 1981 to 2010 and says that the ‘30s were much cooler between 1981 and 2010 which is just as silly as your Global Average Surface Temperature chart. mudbug: There’s no attribution for the source of that chart.
Climate.gov (See image caption for data.) mudbug: It purports to compare global temperatures but in the ‘30s, the vast majority of weather stations were in the US so anything that claims to show global temperatures are either lying or estimating based on mostly US temperatures. It doesn't take perfect coverage to determine temperature anomaly. If you have a hundred stations scattered randomly across the globe, and ninety show a significant warming trend and ten show no significant trend, what is the probability that the globe is, in fact, warming? mudbug: The “raw data” you mentioned in post #3 is not raw temperature data The raw historical data is subject to discontinuities due to station changes, instrument changes, missing data etc. The study takes the raw data and, instead of trying to splice the sections together, a process called homogenization, they looked for trends in each continuous section. The result was the same as the homogenization. That implies that the process of homogenization, what you called "egregious manipulation" was not in error. See Rohde, et al. A New Estimate of the Average Earth Surface Land Temperature Spanning 1753 to 2011. Geoinformatics & Geostatistics, 2013 mudbug: some of these areas are just now breaking the records that were set in the 1930s "Some areas" is not the global mean temperature anomaly. Chicken Little, we've been in a global warming trend for the last 12,000 years, and will continue to be until the planet begins a new ice age. The 30s and 40s don't matter, the last century doesn't matter, nor do the last thousand years matter to the planet.
Get over your self. There's nothing you can do about it except be thankful you were't born in an ice age. jack walter: we've been in a global warming trend for the last 12,000 years
What will those crazy scientists come up with next?! The International Union of Geological Sciences, representing over a million geoscientists, refuses to yield to activist scientists.

Maypo: I notice our local Cliff Clavin didn't directly address the assertion of "Tony Heller" that the ground station data is egregiously manipulated.
We directly responded. If the data is showing an erroneous trend because it has been "egregiously manipulated", then independent measures would show a different result. They don't. We also pointed to independent statistical analysis of the raw data which doesn't require splicing data sets, homogenization. Maypo: And if it is, why in the world would anyone believe any data by several "independent" (hah! all funded by the Klimate Kult) sources. So, now, the conspiracy has to expand to include all other sources, including the satellite data and ocean heat content observations: different scientists, different countries, different cultures, different fields, different methods. But you choose to believe the one who confirms your prejudice. The Klimate Kult is incapable of even setting up temperature stations that meet the requirements for accurate readings of actual temperatures.
You are a prime example of one who chooses to believe those who confirm your prejudices. We have had satellite data for such a short period of time it should only be applied to weather and not to climate. What's the satellite data for the 30's?
When somebody tries to re-define evolutionary biology as 'problematic', all of the normal people are quickly going to conclude that 'somebody' is the problematic one instead.
There are a lot more normal people than 'problematic' ones. Re: VDH
I would like to tell Mr. Davis a little piece of CA history that he will find interesting. It was in CA in 1973 (+/-1) that the majority (all?) of the class of attorneys sitting for the state bar exam failed the "ethics" portion of the exam. It was the first time that had happened. It was immediately brushed under the media carpet, but I am sure a diligent search of records in Sacaramento or Davis would find this to be fact. That was the first round of hippies to sit for the bar exam. If my memory serves me they were allowed to pass on through. There are also those "different scientists, different countries, different cultures, different fields, and different methods" that dispute the climate cult's claims. You choose to believe those that confirm your prejudice too.
Ray Epps, a target of Jan. 6 conspiracy theories, gets a year of probation for his Capitol riot role
https://news.yahoo.com/ray-epps-target-jan-6-164800399.html Can you smell the white wash? In a suburb of Cincinnati a "teen/youth" 15 years old punched the female teacher in the head so hard that she is now going into brain surgery in hopes they can save her life. I suspect this "teen" was over 6' tall and probably over 200 lbs. IMHO any male "teen" who gets into a fight/assault and can do that kind of damage should be treated as an adult without regard to actual age. If you are as big as a man and as strong as a man who in the hell are we protecting???
Academics on breastfeeding... well, they are academics. I would guess the MSM would have similar 'feelings'.
TikTok doctor says its ok to be fat. At least he hasn't recommended putting them on a ventilator or Remdesivir. Misguided war on the SAT. All that education and all that pay and they still can't shoot 'straight'. Millions spent on racial equality is just money down a black hole and still no light at the end of the tunnel. Millions spent on racial equality is just money down a black hole and still no light at the end of the tunnel.
Because that was guilt money, extorted bribes to keep them from creating social unrest. And it didn't work. It was the price of having a "civilized society." Which we didn't get. Once you start paying extortion, it never ends. The Misguided War on the SAT - Colleges have fled standardized tests, on the theory that they hurt diversity. That’s not what the research shows.
A doctoral dissertation from the 1950s, one of the first to use a computer to process data, compared college freshman academic performance with high school grades, ACT/SAT scores, and various psychological tests. It found out that the best predictors for college freshman academic performance were high school grades, ACT/SAT scores, and a psychological attribute the author called "stick-to-it-iveness." That is, the ability to persevere in the face of setbacks. You got a bad score on the latest test? Study more! As high school grades these days are inflated, they have lost their predictive ability. Scores don't count? Several years ago the NYT published an article that pointed out that blacks constituted only 0.7 percent of tenured math professors at the country's top 50 research universities. The NYT told us that 0.7 percent was evidence of "racial exclusion." A commenter dug up an article from the Journal of Blacks in Higher Education which pointed out that in 2005, blacks constituted 0.7 percent of those scoring 750 or above on the Math SAT. Which tracks rather well with blacks consituting 0.7 percent of tenured math professors. Did you know that the FBI was created by executive order? This means that any sitting president could write an executive order ending the existence of the FBI. We really need this. The FBI is actively working against the U.S. and our constitution. End it and send in forensic auditors to determine the extent of the damage and unlawful actions. Then get congress to authorize $225 million dollars for the DOJ to be used to prosecute FBI agents who broke the law.
Anon: Did you know that the FBI was created by executive order? This means that any sitting president could write an executive order ending the existence of the FBI.
The FBI is defined by statute 28 U.S. Code Chapter 33. 50% of voters are independents? Really. Where might that be? Ever seen a state where they change senators every election, ditto representatives. The author snorts way too much coke.
Academics called breastfeeding 'ethically problematic' because it endorses 'gender roles.'
Which is why we quarantine academics to universities in order to protect the rest of society. If they can prove themselves to be useful and practical, we allow them to be hired as consultants for industry. But the vast majority of them are useless liberal arts faculty that posture and preen for attention while they put forth harmful theories and nonsense. |
