Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

You have to be some kind of terminally woke, virtue signalling fool to even entertian the notion of buying a vehicle that takes 10 times as long to "refuel" as a conventional ICE, with limited and unreliable range to boot. Never mind the pathetic charging infrastructure that barely exists.
What actual benefit do you get from this clearly, "Not ready for prime time," technology? About all it has going for it is snappy acceleration compared to an ICE. I suspect if electric vehicles didn't come badged with, "Hey, look at me, I'm electric!" so everyone can see what a responsible citizen of the world the owners were, you couldn't give tham away. That's almost as good as the garbage man telling me he's no longer delivering. " Reveal NGOs "Carefully Planned" US Migrant Invasion"
So why don't hunt them down and charge with the same crime that we charge human smugglers with? Why is congress a bunch of corrupt wimps? What the hell are our prosecutors doing besides going after political opponents? Why don't we declare a crisis or war or something so we can quickly marshal the assets to close the border to illegal immigration AND reverse the past immigration chaos? It's tie to put pictures of Republicans on milk cartons because they are missing. Really, unless you have a pretty specific set of criteria satisfied, - especially a commitment to purely local driving - you'd have to be.... a little special... to think owning an electric vehicle makes sense - or does any environmental good. Chevy has just stopped sales of their electric 'Blazer' because of chronic electrical problems (unfortunate name considering the Chevy Volt's propensity for burning down homes).
There are quite a few professors and doctors in my neighborhood, and more than a handful of Teslas running around. But on the long interstates between Houston and Dallas, they are infrequent. It's really a story about the power of Government to hype up their preferences and impose them on the populace that voted for them, whether they like it or not. And a lot of that imposition is exerted through industry, indirectly, by making life miserable for the manufacturers, and forcing them to hawk poor concepts as if they were viable choices. Witness our auto industry being nutted by the CAFE fleet fuel mileage requirements, which has made cars more under-powered, lighter, less comfortable, and less safe. Which you will be enjoying because you can't buy anything different any more, even if you could afford it. It's just as smart as all those mercury-filled compact fluorescent bulbs that were forced on the public because incandescent bulbs were just too evil, consumers couldn't possibly be trusted to make good choices. Here: have some mercury instead. RE: "The Dublin Riot"
If they want to save their country and ultimately their lives they need to play smarter. Don't riot. Remove politicians from office. By vote if possible but by other means if that fails. Those politicians have been bought by the NWO, they are traitors. Make no mistake after they destroy your country they will have a villa in a safe place. They won't stick around to see what the "Huns" do to you. Anon: Remove politicians from office. By vote if possible but by other means if that fails.

I'll wait while you give me the links to occasions when you've condemned similar rhetoric from the left. Oh. Never mind. You haven't. James: Why are you pretending to be surprised or outraged that people will resort to other means when conventional politics fails and their rights are being violated?
Other means could be legal and justified. However, the implication, which you apparently also read, is the use of extralegal force—and that in response to losing an election. While sometimes it is necessary to use extralegal force, it undermines the rule of law and must always be a last resort after all other means have been exhausted, and even then only when there is the threat of absolute despotism. That is far from the case in the United States. For it is a fundamental of conservative thought that “Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes”. Thank you ChatGPT!

Have you seen what Biden has done to our borders? Have you seen the enormous increase in crime in Democrat states and cities? I think that your claim that it "far from the case in the United States" was a gleeful in your face lie. Daring us to do anything about the despotism of Biden and the Democrats. You/they are destroying the country and daring us to do anything to stop them. It is way past time that they be stopped.

Anon: Have you seen what Biden has done to our borders? ? . . .
Those are policy differences that should be resolved through elections, courts, and other means. Trying voting harder. Anon: I think that your claim that it "far from the case in the United States" was a gleeful in your face lie. Losing elections is not the same as being under the "threat of absolute despotism." Tearing it all down would be more likely to lead to "absolute despotism" than continuing to fight for better policies.

'The Dublin Riot: A Harbinger of Things to Come?'
Hopefully. Muslimaggots have no place in the West. As far as I'm concerned, DEI stands for Divide, Exclude, Implement.
Why post a link to a paywalled article?

I'm not sure what's worse, a rendition that outshines Feliciano in horribleness, or the sheer gringo dork-ery of it. I'll go with the gringo dork-ery. Quite possibly add atheist/agnostic before the gringo. Christian nationalism is the latest boogie man.
The Powerline article points to phrases that were used to show the bias of the left wing press. If you add in the many stories that the left wing press pushes under the carpet, because it would make the democrats look bad, those charts would be even more eye opening. You really can not hate the media enough. They are, for very good reasons, as Trump points out, the enemy of the people. Your local media is even worse.
The local media clowns, and I’m sure the national ones too, actually believe that you could not get out of bed, dress and feed yourself everyday without them. The old Soviet system had nothing on our current media. They make the Soviet media look like pikers. Of course the Soviets didn’t have elite institutions dedicated to the teaching of propaganda. America’s colleges have raised the delivery of propaganda to an art form. Sarah Hoyt, at Instapundit, linked to an essay today reminding me of the article published by Tom Cotton, in the New York Times. Do you remember that article? Tom Cotton laid out the reasons that the Burn Loot and Murder crowd should be brought under control. The lefties at the New York Times went apoplectic. The editor eventually resigned. Now compare that to the ‘Mayor’ of Gaza essay. You really can not hate the media enough. But save some of that hate for the GOP, because those clowns have been lying to you for decades too. They make promises that they never intend to keep. They don’t defend America or her culture. They go along to get along, all the while filling up their pocketbooks with the hard earned American tax dollars; right along with the democrats. “We don’t need no civil war. It feeds the rich and buries the poor” -Guns N’ Roses Holiday Nostalgia Train Rides
Consisting of eight cars from the 1930s, the Holiday Nostalgia Train is a charming reminder of New York City’s transit history. These vintage Independent Subway System (IND) cars were once the pride of the first subway company operated by the City of New York. Modern for their time, the R1/9s complimented the IND’s Depression-Era Art Deco aesthetic. Featuring rattan seats, paddle ceiling fans, incandescent light bulbs, roll signs, and period advertisements, the R1/9s are the cars that inspired Billy Strayhorn’s iconic “Take the A Train.” They entered service on the Eighth Avenue line (today’s A/C/E) in 1932 and ran until 1977. Today, they are preserved as part of the New York Transit Museum’s collection. This year, the Holiday Nostalgia Train will operate on Saturdays in December! You need the Tesla Beast. Chargers always availalbe . Always. And for my X, lifetime free supercharging. (maybe available for the best also). I have charger with solar panels on house , but use the tesla free superchargers always. And the onboard computer will tell you how much you need to charge until the next supercharger on long trips. Been to L A twice. Never a problem getting charged. Usually 20-30 minutes, during which I let the kids out, get coffee or lunch. |
