Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Dr. Carol Swain is a real treasure - an intelligent woman who is not afraid to be conservative just because she's black. Tennessee is lucky to have her in our presence.
In a better world, we'd get a cage match between Dr Swain and Dr Gay. From the looks of her, I wouldn't mess with Dr Swain in person.
Our politicians, mostly the Democrats and the elite have come up with a solution, the final solution. They will replace us. The open borders and all the legal and illegal immigration that occurred before Biden was intentional to replace American citizens and make the country easier to rule over. This was all planned in the 60s by then radical Democrats but who would now be moderate Democrats. It was mostly under the covers for decades but now is out in the open as the end phase of the final solution draws near and cannot be stopped. Chaos, murder and eventually a police state is the goal. It's unstoppable now.
The Covid vax was a part of it. The vaccine was in fact designed to kill and it is killing Americans and mostly other people of Western nations. Convenient huh. The next stage of the killing part of the plan will be a major war where military aged Americans can be eliminated. This will take place in Europe, the Middle East, and in the Pacific. These wars will coincidently create many refugees who will be transported to Western countries to complete the plan. A tacky White House Christmas is more accurate.
I thought leftists despised Walmart. Because everyone knows that the soldiers in Nutcracker have to be straight cisgender white males, because realism.
Vsevolozhsky costume sketch for Nutcracker Vsevolozhsky I've always thought that the Nutcracker needed more Ben Vereen and RuPaul. It lacked real class and culture.
I know right? Wikipedia, The Guardian and The Atlantic, etc. have it on good authority. 'Seeking out the company of other men' automatically makes one a homosexual after all. Your sources are biased. Nothing but agenda driven speculation. Regardless it doesn't change the fact that Jill Biden's Christmas spectacle was absolute dross and an insult to the source material. Your 'cup of tea' I'm sure.

I'll be more explicit than Cod so it is harder for you to pretend not to understand.
The "artistic" choices to change the race, sex, or orientation of characters isn't artistic at all it is political. Made by people who embrace anti-white racism and hate western civilization, like you. Like you, they are eager to fundamentally change the US. Into something that is far inferior in every regard. Thus, it is completely reasonable that any sane, moral person would find the choices made by the BLM affiliated group objectionable. James: The "artistic" choices to change the race, sex, or orientation of characters isn't artistic at all it is political.
Sure. Because the race of anthropomorphized dancing toy soldiers have to be straight cisgender white males — because realism. I didn't say such a choice couldn't be artistic. I said it wasn't in this case, or in most cases when it occurs in modern entertainment. That is so transparently true that I find it odd that one would need to state it, much less have to prove it.
Maybe try reading and responding to what I actually said. James: I didn't say such a choice couldn't be artistic.
A good example is the musical Hamilton. Or for swapping gender roles, Barbie. James: I said it wasn't in this case, . . . Except in this case, the race of the characters is immaterial to the story about a nutcracker of all things. The story is all about the fantastical. James: or in most cases when it occurs in modern entertainment. Quite so. (Common ground!) It's the bandwagon effect. One success breeds a multitude of increasingly poor imitations. Keep in mind, though, that most entertainment is trifling and forgettable. It's always been thus. Then again, tap dancing, a traditional African American dance form and popular in musical theater, is not for everyone. Cabaret isn't for everyone. It's okay. I forget. Is there a reason for the Christmas season? I think it is just about lights, trees and goofy movies. Is it more deep than that? I think I am missing something.
Christmas hasn't been a truly Christian holyday for many years; it's been taken over by secular forces which are more akin to the pagan solstice rites than anything Christian. Can one imagine any other faith having one of their high holy days denigrated to shopping and recipes. Don't see the local papers printing "after-dark" recipes for Ramadan, nor do I see Passover greeted "here's how to sear the lamb this year". Only Christian holy days are being totally secularized while - at the same time - Christians are being called out because their holy days are now "holidays" and therefore - somehow - exclusionary.

Matthew 18:20 The mayor of Chicago is acting out of character. He just stopped a vote to change Chicago from a sanctuary city. He did this in direct opposition of his constituency. This literally makes no sense, unless he is not in control. And that is exactly the case. Almost every left wing politician in the U.S. is read the riot act after they are elected. They are told that they are free to follow most of their agenda but on certain key things they will toe the Democrat/communist line or be thrown out of office and even face endless criminal charges. The mayor is in charge of school lunches and traffic lights but he better not go against his handlers on illegal immigration.
He isn't in control. He is owned lock, stock and barrel by the Chicago Teacher's Union. To be fair, what actually happened was that the city council (at the mayor's urging) voted down putting an 'advisory' referendum on the ballot there next year. It wouldn't have done anything, but we can't have those black folks in Chicago voting off the plantation.
"400,000 Ukrainians Killed In Action"
For some reason Col Macgregor has gone off the reservation on Ukraine. I assume it is because his reporting is a profitable side gig and he has to keep up the doomsday reports. I believe the oft repeated 400,000 Ukrainian casualties/deaths is accurate for total casualties, i.e. death and injuries, but not accurate for deaths. But by conflating these two stats it makes a great headline or talking point. If you actually have followed Macgregor and his fellow doomsayers for a year and a half you would have been sure that Ukraine lost the war over a year ago and then every week since. They essentially keep reporting that "it's all over" in much the same way the world was going to end decades ago due to global warming. Don't get me wrong, Ukraine is getting a whooping and Russia will win but Russia is getting a whooping too and they cannot afford another win like they will eventually get in Ukraine. Ukraine did lose the war over a year and a half ago but Zelensky is willing to fight to the LAST Ukraine. Well, except for the oligarch kids.
Here, let me correct that for you:
"Putin is willing to fight to the LAST Russian. Well, except for the oligarch kids." Even the Ukraine insiders know the jig is up. Time to grab the last few bucks available and move on to the next fiasco.
https://voxday.net/2023/12/14/neoclown-admit-the-defeat-of-the-west/ Zelensky is starting to realize just what 'we're in this with you until the end' actually means. He should have made a call to the other world leaders that have taken Western promises at face value over the last few decades. What he wanted is irrelevant. What he has chosen is at hand.
Every single declaration that Ukraine has lost the war or will inevitably lose the war. is either wish casting by Russophiles or weasel words based on ambiguity in the word "lose." If you mean they will inevitably end up in a worse state than they were in prior to the war economically and demographically, then that is so obvious that one wonders why it would need to be said.
If you mean that will inevitably be worse off than they would if they just surrendered to Russia, its complete nonsense. It is perfectly reasonable to think that Russia is closer to collapse than Ukraine and that it will never match the territorial control it had in July of '22. But the tell than your position is nonsense is the failure to acknowledge that Russia had suffered a strategic defeat in the "three day special military operation" by the beginning of June '22 at the latest. And that no matter how much of Ukraine it eventually manages to conquer, it will be far worse off at the conclusion of the war than it was at the beginning. McGregor, and those who repeat his statements unquestioningly, are completely FOS. It's hard to see how he can be so wrong so consistently without having a financial or ideological motivation for being wrong.
We were friends with a young couple who had a baby with a genetic problem, which I believe must have been Trisomy 18 from the description of the symptoms. The child had a miserable life, breathing was difficult, and they had to rush her to the emergency room every few weeks. When she finally died at 18 months, she looked like a 6-week-old, and I've never seen parents so devastated.
When the mother got pregnant again, she had genetic testing done on the fetus, because she said if it turned out to have the same problem she would abort it. I have never been able to blame her for that. Luckily, the child was normal, but I don't think they ever had another child. It was tragic all around. How “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” Went From Morbid Omen to Holiday Mainstay
QUOTE: It would take some pressure from one of Garland’s co-stars to convince Martin to change the lyrics, paving the way for “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” to become a bona fide holiday hit. As it turned out, though, it wasn’t the last time he’d be asked to edit the song. . . . Everyone, from the producers to Garland herself, agreed that while the melody was winning, the fatalism of the lyrics was simply too bleak for the movie. “It’s OK for it to be bittersweet and nostalgic,” producer Arthur Freed said, “but it shouldn’t be a dirge.” Garland put it even more succinctly: “If I sing that lyric to little Margaret O’Brien, the audience will think I’m a monster.” https://www.mentalfloss.com/posts/have-yourself-a-merry-little-christmas-song-dark-origins-history Yeah that was a little morbid. Especially the line "Next year we may all be living in New York".

re VDH: Civilization Versus the New Nihilists -
A pretty good encapsulation of all that's going wrong right now. One of VDH's better pieces. An important piece he left out was the lawfare being prosecuted on conservatives. That is only picking up steam. It's only going to get worse. Americans must choose between civilization—or its destroyers. What are those of us that choose civilization supposed to do when our ruling masters are only interested in wrecking the ship? I guess we just ride it down and then it's every man for himself when she sinks. That's going to be a tough world to live in. QUOTE: Civilization Versus the New Nihilists Hanson misrepresents the political dynamic. Political nihilism is the "belief that conditions in the social organization are so bad as to make destruction desirable for its own sake independent of any constructive program or possibility". There are certainly people who want to tear it all down, and there are anarchists on the political left and on the political right. However, most have an idea of what they want to replace it with; such as, on the far right, some imagined republic of the past composed of only the best people; or on the far left, some imagined socialist society of all the people. Even if you think that "Defund the Police" or "Stop the Steal" will lead to the breakdown of society, that doesn't mean the people advocating these policies are nihilists, not most of them anyway. That's because most are not attempting to destroy institutional structures for its own sake, but are rather, in their minds at least, attempting to bring about institutional change. Sure, you think, what does forcing Congress to flee to stop the electoral count have to do with institutional change? It's stupid, yeah. But it's not nihilism. |
