We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I've heard of 'Yellowstone', but I'm not much of a TV guy. The wife absolutely raved about 'Downton Abbey', so I watched some episodes with her. It is literally an Edwardian soap opera. Meh. But I like sittin' next to my sweetie, so there's that...
The premise seems worthwhile and I really wanted to like it. However, the story-lines and characters are just too outlandish and/or insubstantial to not be called out.
Nevertheless... Once you've seen a couple of episodes, it can be hard to look away.
Oh boy! That series has had more of a negative impact on Montana than any other film ever has! We have been inundated with thousands of people moving to Montana with the idea that they are going to buy 10 acres and retire. That is no longer a very realistic idea.
The actors and actresses are a joke. Many of the "town" scenes are filmed in my small town. After the shooting for the day, the actors and actresses don't bother to change clothes--their arrogance makes them believe that they blend right in with the locals. They come into our grocery stores and restaurants, still dressed in their costumes! We all laugh when they show up in the grocery store in their fringe skirts up to their thighs with fringed cowboy boots, and the hat! Maybe they just think they are "shocking the locals" into accepting their "Hollywood/New York" reality! Don't be alarmed if I tell you that we can spot out of staters in a crowded grocery store!
