We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Government bought science the same way that hookers are bought. Money for government preferences.
The covid cult, 'green' energy, climate change, race quotas, gun control, and endless social engineering all 'groomed' and then mandated by Woodrow Wilsons administrative state protected by the progressive socialists.
The cost is measured in trillions in debt, chaos in the streets, endless wars, and declining living standards.

Regarding the 'Green' transition and the cascading failures of windmills and electric car franchises, Toyota had famously avoided these entanglements for years - until the CEO retired and was replaced by a more.... sympathetic leader. Now all of Toyota's larger vehicles (small trucks and SUV's) have replaced their V-8s with hybrids: High-revving 4-bangers with dual turbos and an electric motor between the engine and transmission - to power up and cover the turbo lags and other 4-cylinder deficiencies.

He says this: “People are finally seeing reality”. They certainly are - now that they no longer have any choice in the matter. Around here, workmen like their Toyotas almost as much as their heavy-duty Fords and GMs and Dodges. My insurance guy tells me the Toyota catalytic converters are the most frequently stolen. Can't wait to see the reaction over the coming years.

Regarding Stuart's notes: "Terrified female martial artists say they’ve pulled out of recent competitions to avoid facing much stronger transgender fighters...." - I've been wondering when this would start to happen. But in the spirit of expanding our culture and opening up opportunities for all of the trans-LBGTXYZ community, I would like to propose a further relaxation of the rules: Let the genetic females bring a firearm to the contest. It's all about pushing boundaries - right?

Government rarely does anything right. I read that India wanted to reduce the number of deaths from Cobra bites so they placed a bounty on dead Cobras. It seemed to work at first but then some devious Indians decided to raise Cobras and turn them in for the bounty. After awhile the same people were turning in so many Cobras that the government officials figured it out and stopped the bounty program. Then all the people who were raising Cobras for the bounty decided to release all their Cobras into the wild. The end result was more Cobras not less. This could have been the poster child for government programs.

I just returned from a windmill blade manufacturer. The newest blade is 80 meters long, 18 metric-tones. I’m working on upgrading the trolley that pulls the blades through the sanding-shaping process.

I didn’t bring up any of the news articles about the imploding windmill industry. Not good to talk politics with the guy paying your invoices. I can say that the orders are still coming in. This was my 3rd visit to the plant and the production floor was full. Time will tell.

I can report that the bigger blades don’t come with dramatic increases in output wattage. I talked to my host briefly about that, but that was not his expertise. They only manufacture the blades. Twenty year guarantee on each blade. Nothing special about the fiberglass.

I’m not pro-windmill, I think they have their place in energy production. They shouldn’t be the primary source for the electrical grid. But I wanted to pass on some firsthand information.

The anti-science essay was just silly. Some people say that some of those premises are scientific, and even of those, some say they are only somewhat scientific. That's a lot of watering down to go on a rant about.
