We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I don't know Stuart but the question I would have is; is he stupid? They were very clear about why McCarthy should be ousted and their reasons made perfect sense. McCarthy was dragging his feet, not honoring his promises, collaborating with the Democrats and Rinos all to continue the swamp business as usual. Yes it is chaos but who is responsible for that? We need balanced budgets. I don't think that demanding 72 hours to read a bill before you vote on it is unreasonable.

The problem is the uni-party. While the Democrats have descended into full criminal/communist/anti-Americans the Rinos and collaborators are little better. Put America first! Work for the citizens not Ukraine, China, Mexico and illegal border crossers. What is wrong or controversial about that?

I get it that the Speaker's job is tough and not everyone gets what they want but McCarthy walked away from everything he promised even those things he could do without a vote. So IMHO he deserved this and all the whining only serves to remove the mask from those who claim to be conservatives.

I saw a cartoon a few days ago with Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown with Lucy labeled "GOP" and Charlie labeled "GOP Voters" and Lucy saying something to the effect that this time she would keep her promise and not betray him.

Then you have people like Nebraska congressman Don Bacon (R) who said of the Trump supporters ""We're tired of f***ing around with these whack jobs," who make it clear the GOP has no interest in actually governing but is much more content to be the permanent Loyal Opposition, sitting on the sidelines and carping about the Democrats, sending out fund-raising letters and grifting their black little hearts out.

The GOPe is about useless.

My reoccurring nightmare is that 20 years from now a film maker, perhaps a Russian, makes a film about the collapse of the former USA and in the film the Democrats in power today are portrayed as patriots who tried to save us. Everyday I see that day drawing closer and everyday the Democrats accuse the conservatives of doing exactly what they themselves are doing. Everyday they lie and it appears that a majority of citizens registered to vote Democrat actually believe them. This is the Democrat modus operandi and it is so pervasive and so supported by the MSM that history will be written as a big lie even as they destroy us. This is what tyranny looks like: This is what a traitor looks like, the Democrat party.

Will the next 12 months be turmoil and treachery? No one can know but the Democrats are terrified of Trump and he must be stopped. They are terrified of the truth being known and trump will expose them. They will stop at nothing so creating turmoil and treachery doesn't scare them. If I were "you" I would prepare and buy some supplies; .357, 9mm, .223, etc.

Yes, i have all of Parkman's works, and a book on him. He tried to collect stories from the Oneidas out west, too, to get their view of the French and Indian Wars. He is still worth reading.
